  • Double check my Latin?

    I do believe that this phrase

    Amo per dolor

    Means,

    Love through pain

    Am I correct?

    And please, no Translation software checks.

    Thank you very much!

  • Double check my answer to this equation?

    I was doing an algebra problem, got the solution, checked it, and it's apparently wrong.

    Can anyone double check my math for me? Here's the formula. It's just finding x so that the distance between two points equals ten. And, for reference, +- means plus or minus. Sqrt means square root.

    10 = sqrt((1 - x)^2 + (-1+ 9)^2)

    And my answer was, +- sqrt(55)

    Thanks.

  • Teleportation at a Molecular Level?

    Okay, so here's a question I've got. Assuming that you were scanned, and your molecular build stored in a massive database. Your genetic build was then torn apart, and rebuilt. Either in another instance of physical space, or even in a sudo-reality. Would you still be you? You have everything that made you...you. Memories, DNA, eveything. Would the, "human spirit," be included in this destruction/reconstruction process? Or would it be lost somewhere? Would the brain survive a short period of seemingly nothingness?

    I would be lead to think that all the physical concepts would be pieced together without an issue. (Assuming that we have that functionality, and have minimized the error risks) However, the more meta-physical subjects escape me. I could definitely see that you could still be you via your memories, and neuron connections in your brain. But there's still the nagging question of, "Are we more than our memories and how they've shaped us"? Thoughts anyone?

  • Searching an XML File based on User Input (C#)?

    I want to search a XML file based on user input. It will find the node with the corresponding user input, and return a string value of it's child node. How would I go about doing this? Here's a snippet of the code I already have.

    //User Input

    ID = txtID.Text;

    XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument();

    doc.Load("IDDB.xml");

    foreach(XmlNode node in doc.SelectSingleNode("/Identification/ID

    [text()="+ID+"]"))

    {

    if(node.OuterXml.Contains(ID))

    {

    StudentName = //Grabbing and returning the value of the child node of ID

    }

    }

  • Delayed appearance of elements in a website?

    I'm wondering how you go about making an element of a

    website appear after a certain amount of time. Such as

    a table appearing after twenty seconds. I tried looking

    through W3C and elsewhere, but I don't think I can quite

    phrase it right. Here's an example of what I mean,

    www.ilovebees.com.

    I read through their coding, but couldn't find

    anything helpful. All their CSS is in the actual webpage,

    and there is no visible JavaScript.

    Any help would be great.

  • PC vs Console FACTS, not flame?

    In case you can't tell by the title this post isn't for a flame war. I need a website that lists point-by-point disadvantages and advantages of owning a console over a pc, vise versa, or states facts about both but has no bias. I already have http://internetgames.about.com/od/hardware/a/pcvsc... Help is greatly appreciated.

  • Can dried fruit make you sick?

    I made myself a snack consisting of nothing but dried fruit. It was probably a 1/4 cup dried apricots, 1/2 cup blueberries, and a 1/2 cup apple chips all in a plastic bag. I ate a little less than half before noon, and the rest not too long ago. (a bit more was eaten by other family members leaving close to a 1/3 left.) Is it possible i got sick from that little bit of dried fruit? I have a feeling it is but I just want to be sure, so I can learn from my mistake next time XD

    Thanks in advance

  • Poll: What do you think about incest?

    I mean I'm not going to go out and do it, but I'm just curious to see what the rest of society thinks about it. Because if you look at it from a religious stand point, it existed at the time of the creation of man. And that also makes me wonder what we looked like back then, because as we all know if a brother and sister have a baby it comes out mutated. And God knew (literally) that incest would exist the second he made Adam and Eve, maybe earlier.

  • Can you read my story and tell me what you think?

    And if you would be so kind keep an eye out for errors, and any suggestions to make it better.

    "Oh yea? Then why don't we go find a Wolfos so you can watch me beat the living **** out of it?" challenged Raye.

    "Ha! I'd like to see you try!" Taunted Alberio.

    "That would be quite a laugh seeing her try to beat up a Wolfos own her own!" Added {blank}, jumping in on the taunting.

    "Yea 'cause I bet before she even gets five minutes into fighting the Wolfos she'll be knocked back on the ground crying!" Alberio replied with a big grin playing across his face.

    "You better wipe that damn smile off your face or I'll wipe it off myself!" screamed Raye

    "Jeez I was only kidding Raye, no need to get so serious." Alberio replied the humorous grin disappearing off his face.

    "Yea Raye come on we were only having some fun. It's not like we really meant it." Added {blank} trying to calm Raye down before she went ballistic.

    Raye began to draw in a breath to calm herself down, "Whatever, can we just get a move on?"

    "Yea that's probably a good idea, especially considering that we haven't gone any where for a good 20 minutes." Alberio pointed out, as he was trying to figure out where they were.

    "Yea, I guess we got so distracted we didn't notice we stopped dead in our tracks." Said {blank}.

    Slowly Alberio and Raye turned their attention on their friend. "Well no ****! You hear this guy Raye? Apparently... we stopped moving."

    Raye let out a small laugh, "Wow that's such a surprise! I had absolutely no idea!"

    "Yea I'm just as surprised as you are! I could have sworn that we made some real progress just now!"

    "I guess we should ask Captain Obvious over here what our next move is." Alberio laughed "Maybe he'll tell us the we need to keep going forward!"

  • If you somehow manage to find this Spinderella...?

    Just an FYI since I can't get in touch with you through mail or IM since you don't allow it. GameVance is Malware just in case you didn't know so I would download an anti virus program (I suggest Microsoft Security Essentials) asap to delete it since it takes some of your info in order to give you "better ads."

  • English to German translation?

    I need some one to do a translation of this for me, and I've tried translation programs but they all come out strange.

    Yet to return, the shadowed one.

    Who quests for the Twilight Dragon

    Rumbles the Dark Hearth,

    And Helba, Queen of the Dark,

    has finally raised her army.

    Apeiron, King of Light beckons.

    At the base of the rainbow they meet

    Against the abominable Wave,

    together they fight.

    Alba's lake boils.

    Light's great tree doth fall.

    Power- now all to droplets turned

    in the temple of Arche Koeln.

    Returns to nothing,

    this world of shadowless ones.

    Never to return, the shadowless one,

    Who quests for the Twilight Dragon.
