  • New dentist wants to replace my son's braces with her own!?

Is this normal for a new orthodontist to want to replace existing braces with ones she "installs"??

These original braces have been on for less than 1 year. We moved several hundred miles from the original ortho and the NEW ortho wants to replace them!! (another $5000!)

Should I find another dentist who can work with the existing braces? Has anyone else had experience with changes ortho's?

  • How many joules does a 6 volt "charger" produce?

I'm trying to purchase an electric fence charger. NONE of them are described the same way. Some describe the Joule output, others describe the voltage output.

They range from 6 volt (the solar charger) to 3 joules (110v input or 12v battery). I would like to understand how to "equalize" these chargers in order to figure out the best purchase. IOW, turning the volted description into a joule description.

CAN I find out how many joules the 6 volt solar charger produces without knowing the amps?

    THANKS!

  • why are my bonds losing value?

Last year I purchased some non coupon bonds at 5.5% for 30 years. They are AAA rated/insured (Houston Sports Authority book entry), a guaranteed payout-even if they get the early call.

The company, FMS Bonds, that is holding the book entry sends me quarterly updates on the resale value. Every quarter I have taken a 'hit'. I received this quarter's statement and they are now worth less than half of what I paid for them!! Can anyone explain this to me?

My bonds are NOT tied to the stock market; they are a guaranteed, TAX FREE payout; so, WHY are they worth less than half what I paid, now???

  • Mississippi: sentenced for crime w/o having been charged?

In following the advice of her 'court appointed' attorney, my sister plead no contest to a class 'c' felony. Her attorney told her she'd probably get off with 3 yrs probation-the maximum sentence. However, when she appeared before the Judge, he sentenced her to 5 yrs probabation!

When she asked her attorney about this he said the Judge threw in sentencing for an outstanding 'bad check' that she had NEVER been charged for! She would have never plead quilty to the bad check because she was making payments to the company that the check was written to (turns out the company was not cashing any of the money orders she was sending).

Was this legal? Can the entire SIS conviction be thrown out? Know of any good attorney's in Mississippi willing to take this case if it can be protested?

  • Can I sue law enforement for not investigating a crime?

My home was burglarized, last night, and the sheriff's dept. failed to come out to take a report, fingerprint, or photograph the crime scene.

I phoned 4 TIMES to ask when a deputy would be available to come to my aid; a deputy was put on the line and he asked, "have you entered the property?" Well, YES, I had, but I did preserve the 'crime scene'.

He said he would be out in 15 mins. A dispatch office called me back in 5 mins to say that the deputy was called to another crime and would call me when he was available.

I called back 2 hours later; still, no deputies were available to come to MY CRIME SCENE!

Can I file suit against the Sheriff's Dept for not doing their job?

I live outside the city limits, that's why I had to call the Sheriff.

  • Denied a loan due to criminal history!?

I have a misdemeanor on my record from several years ago. My banker stated that the 'board' denied my loan because of this misdemeanor charge!

I've never heard of anyone being denied credit (or a loan) because of criminal history (let alone a MISDEMEANOR!). Does anyone else have experience with this?
