  • Attempted to jump off another vehicle, but fried my 2000 Jeep wrangle in the process?

I have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler and attempted to jump off my roomates 2011 Dodge Dakota. With the Dakota though, I had to hook the jumper cables up by lying underneath the truck and reaching to the top of the battery because when the battery dies on those trucks you cannot unlock the door to pop the hood from the inside. So I hook the cables up to his truck and then attempt to hook the cables to my jeep and it sparked and everything suddenly shut down and will not start. I get no power at all. I first thought it was possible i did it backwards on the dodge because I did it from underneath, but looking at pictures of what under the hood looks like I don't think that is what happened. Does anyone know what the problem is and what I did to cause it? My jeep was running and while attempting to connect the positive (i had not connected the negative) everything stopped and will not start or do anything at all.

  • Logic behind gun control?

Okay first off, I am not here to pick a fight with anyone who sees things differently than me though I will say I am completely against gun control. I think all this talk about new restrictions and bans infringes on my liberties. With that being said, I would simply just like some input on what those who are for gun control, think it would help and how. To me, wanting to ban guns just seems like an over-emotional reaction to something bad that has happened and doesn't solve the underlying issue. Do you really think someone mentally-ill enough to go and shoot up a school could not have found a different way to hurt people if they could not get their hands on a gun. Do you really think banning or restricting gun ownership would be a better option than just eliminating gun free zones and arming teachers? If so, I would just like your input on how you figure this. Also, do you think a lunatic about to go on a rampage and sees a "gun free zone" sign will simply stop and not do it? Once again, I am not here to pick a fight or start some stupid argument, I just want to get a better understanding of your logic because it makes no sense to me. I would also like to know if you have any experience with guns and still want restricted gun ownership.

  • Using post 9/11 GI Bill?

In the Navy, probably getting out after my enlistment is up. I would like to get out and go to college somewhere and just be a full time student until i get a degree. If you have gotten out and became a full time student using your post 9/11, what are your experiences with it? Do you get your money on time? Same with the housing allowance that you also are suppose to get if you are a full time student. Does that work as it is suppose to or is there some strings attached? I'd also just like to hear anyone's experiences with going to school after getting out. I will be 23 when I get out basically just beginning college seeing how my job doesn't allow much time for college classes now. How is it being there with a bunch of kids fresh out of high school? do you have people asking you dumb questions all the time about the military?

  • How to meet women after moving to a new place?

After joining the military and moving to a new place, I have found it difficult to meet women. I am under 21 and can't go out to bars or clubs or anything like that, making it more difficult. I can't really meet women through people I know, because they all are married, over 21 and just go out all the time, or are in the same situation as me. Any ideas?

  • As an American in Spain, how can i flirt with Spanish women?

I will be in Rota, Spain for a little while, and i really like it here. I have come to realize that i really like Spanish women. I don't know much Spanish at all, so trying to talk to women is slightly difficult. What are some things i could say to the local women that could possibly start conversation or to hit on them?

  • Improving credit with first credit card?

I am 19, and have my first credit card from Navy Federal Credit Union with a $2,000 limit. I have had it for 6 months. I have checked my credit report on experian, but did not pay for the actual credit score. I pay off my balance every month before the payment's due date. It says i have 2 marks in good standing so far. My highest balance is 860$. I have been using it for all my regular monthly expenses and just paying it off every month. Is it better to let the balance get higher and pay it all off at once, or to pay the balance as i use it. I can do it either way, i was just thinking maybe it is better to use it all month, let the balance get higher, and then pay it off at once. Also, i am going to try to get a $6k-$7k car loan soon, how long does it typically take to get credit up to where i can get a good interest rate?

  • Someone i know is being charged with multiple counts of contributing to delinquency of minor?

I know someone who is 22, had a very large party at a house. The police were eventually called. There were 18 underage people there, who were all arrested, and he is now being charged with 18 counts of contributing to delinquency of minor, disorderly household, and a noise violation. I am guessing the consequences will be serious, but i would just like to know maybe a little more of what is to come of this. I have never really heard about a case where someone is charged with that many counts of something. He doesn't really even have money for a lawyer either so that will probably not help anything. I believe he has one or two misdemeanor on his record, but that is it. This is also in Georgia. He made bail, but it was paid by someone else. I would appreciate it if someone with some law experience could give me some answers.

  • Alcohol incident at beginning of Navy career?

I am 19 and got a minor in possession. My command was not happy, but i think it could have been worse. I may not have to go to Mast, though that is a possibility still. Anyways, what i wanted to know is if this is a career killer because it is alcohol related. I have been in for 6 months, never any prior trouble ever. I feel like i have learned from this and will not make a dumbass mistake like i did again. Given that i stay out of trouble and put effort in, will this surely haunt me later on considering all the cuts the navy is making? I know it will carry some weight, but if i make sure to do well from now on can this incident be overlooked for the most part in the future since it happened so early in my career?

  • Minor in possession in Military?

So i made some really dumb decisions last night. I received a minor in possession of alcohol ticket. I did not go to jail, but they did give me a ticket. They told me it would most likely just be a fine. I am in the Navy and stationed in Virginia and received the ticket in Virginia. Is there any way i can possibly pay the fine without my command finding out? I know most people are going to tell me to let my command know about it and accept responsibility for what i have done. I know i probably should do this but i have only been in the Navy for 6 months and i just got to this command. I am also deploying around the time of my court date. I know i messed up really bad. I have never been in trouble before and i have no idea what i am going to do. I am scared right now and do not know what to do. I would appreciate any advice

  • In Navy for short time, still adjusting to being away from family/friends?

In the Navy. Just got off of leave at home with friends and family. Now in the amazing run down city of Portsmouth VA. Now home is about all i can think about. I have only been in about 6 months, though for some reason it is much harder now than when i first left. How long does it take for it to not be so depressing?

  • How do I know if oil pump failure caused engine to seize?

I drive a 2wd 2003 Chevy s10 4cyl. Last night my dad was driving it and the engine seized. I have been adding oil to it at least once a week. The oil pressure was fine all day when i was driving. When my dad was on his way home in it, the oil pressure suddenly dropped and within seconds it seized up. I went to get him and added another quart of oil and it still was locked up. I am pretty sure it was the oil pump. The check engine light had been coming on and off, but it does that a lot. Never had a check guages light until my dad was driving it last night. That is why i think it had oil, but pump failure. The truck had 222,000 miles on it. Does this sound like oil pump failure symptoms? Is the engine possibly salvageable if oil pump is replaced?

  • How is life in the Marines?

Is life in the Marines really shitty. I am in no way trying to insult or cause arguments. It is just a question. It seems like all the people on TV shows talk about how much they love it, but if you talk to a Marine personally, they will a lot of times say it sucks. I have always been very interested in Military and wars and what not even when I was a little kid. I am currently 17 and a junior in highschool and have already taken the asvab and want to join the Marines or Navy. I want to do infantry or something similar. So would someone like me (from what i just described) actually like being there or does everyone pretty much hate it.

  • Is Obama really a true socialist?

I do not want ignorant responses that most people are going to give saying "yes hes a socialist, he sucks" or something like that. I am not trying to take shots at him for no reason except for if he is a true socialist. Socialism is a very bad concept. This in a way scares me to think of this.

  • If the Navy SEALs had just shot and killed this guy they captured, would they even be in any trouble?

Im pretty sure they wouldnt even be in trouble if they had killed him, but they spare him and he ends up with a busted lip so they are getting Court Martialed. Does this make any sense in any way at all?

  • Navy Seals being accused?

Why is this even an issue? This is war. That stupid *** hagi knows the kind of business he is into. He is lucky in my opinion to be treated as well as he is. Why are these stupid liberals making a deal out of this anyways? If it had been one of ours captured, he probably would have had his head sawed off, videoed and sent back to us. After reading the book "Lone Survivor", I know what is happening, and it makes me want to throw up. Its not like they are roughing up some innocent civilian or something, even if this was the case, it is part of war. Sometimes the wrong people get hurt or killed. Either way, this terrorist scum really deserves worse. He knows if he makes a big deal about this, the America-hating Liberals of this country will turn their backs on the heroes of our Nation in the snap of a finger and ruin the lives of these 3 Navy SEALs. This whole situation is sickening.

  • Navy and Navy Reserve?

Say that you come out of high school and join the Navy Reserve right away or spend a few years active and then go to reserve, so you can attend college. This is what I want to do, but when finishing college, I am thinking I would probably want to become Active Duty and maybe even attempt to become an officer. If I were to do this, would I be still considered in the reserve or activeduty navy instead of full timje reserves. I guess what I am getting at is that is there a difference between Navy reserve and actual Navy. I always though they were the same, but websites I have looked at seem to try to differentiate the two. For instance, you will see or hear about National Guardsmen on TV or what have you that are in Iraq or preparing to go to Iraq or Afghanistan. If they are being deployed, why are they still considered National Guard instead of Army?

  • Talking bad about the Coast Guard?

Why do people talk bad about the Coast Guard? Their job is no easier than other branches. Some jobs are probably harder. They are just a little different and they don't spend as much time away from the country. Where do they get this reputation?
