HELP Iv rescued a baby magpie!?
a few hours ago i rescued a baby magpie that my dog tried to kill :( its probably only a few months old and still has a lot of his fluffy feathers but is old enough to fly. its parents stuck around for a bit but took off after half an hour and didnt come back. iv wrapped him in a blanket and put him infront of the heater because i think he is in shock (i know i would be if a dog tried to eat me) im giving him water through an eye dropper and warm wheat-bix every half hour or so. he is improving, moving around a little more but im concerned he has internal bleeding as there is blood coming from one eye and i can see no damage to the eye itself...what should i do??? i dont want him to die and i have no way of getting him to a vet for a few more hours...
5 AnswersBirds10 years agohow do I start out as a dog breeder?
I have wanted to become a registered breeder for as long as i can remember, however at the moment i dont have enough money to purchase the land required to do this properly. how can I start off my business with a few dogs with excellent bloodlines and paperwork at my own home without being classed as a backyard breeder? what do i need to do to get an ABN and get started??
Please dont think of this question as me being irresponsible, im simply researching as much as i can while i save money for my kennel
6 AnswersDogs10 years agoI think my dog is in the first stages of labour but im not sure?
my rottweiler is about 63 days into her pregnancy so i am expecting pups tonight, however her behaviour is not as 'out of character' as her last litter. i have only just started taking her temperature last night and the readings have all been about 37 degrees Celsius (about 99 Fahrenheit) she is not 'nesting' but will wander from one end of her room to the other every 15mins or so. she was panting a little earlier today but has now stopped. there are no visable signs of contractions.
her last litter she delivered 11 pups (including 3 stillborn). she is no where near as big as she was last time, and i can feel the pups have decreased there activity over the last two weeks. two weeks ago she was acting like she was nesting (moving her bed around and digging a hole in the corner of my yard) and has barely eaten since then.
she is slightly swollen and has a very small amount of clear smooth discharge.
i do expect these pups tonight but i am wondering why she isnt behaving as abnormally as she should. does anyone have any ideas? has this happened to any of you? its only her second litter so she shouldnt be used to pregnancy or anything like that.
ADDITIONAL INFO
i have spoken to a vet and have there emergency contact number in case of complications, but they dont seem to know why she was nesting two weeks ago and not now.
This is a planned pregnancy with another rottweiler, but he was quite a bit larger than she is (twice her size and almost twice the weight)so i am expecting a long sleepless night
