  • What is the difference between evaporated milk, and filled milk?

The PET company and Carnation has evaporated milk. MILNOT is a 'filled' milk. I don't know the difference; or perhaps it's the context of "filled". What is filled milk?

  • I need knowledge on a plumbing problem. Any takers?

I rent. I love my landlady, but her maint. man... and I have a toilet problem I EITHER have a cracked wax gasket, or there is a plumbing problem much bigger. Is there a way to tell which one it might be without calling someone to come in and inspect?

And, if all the work of picking up this old toilet to check things out is going to have to happen, I want to replace it with a newer, more efficient model, which I don't mind springing for. My fear is, if I go ahead and replace the toilet, I might be facing a pipe problem. So, that's why I want to know if there is a way of telling what's going on without calling a plumber. Probably not. But thought I'd ask.

  • Unflavored Gelatin: Envelopes/tsp ratio to liquid.?

I purchased a store brand of unflavored gelatin, thinking the amount of gelatin to liquid for soft to firmer molding would be there, and I only got recipes. I am wanting to make Egg Nog "jello". How many envelopes to what amount of liquid, and would it mold better if after softening, I "cook" it in hot liquid?

    Can you help?

  • I have found a new 'every day' coffee, but still looking for a special one.?

I have access to Starbucks bagged coffee. There's a McDonald's in town, and I like their coffee too. Have you had Duncan Donuts Coffee? Is it good? Compared to what?? Have any suggestions? I'd like a blended, with different beans, so what should I try?

  • Another coffee question,?

I like McCafe, Starbucks and Tim Horton. Now that my coffee maker has died I would like info on the best maker (I understand brewing temp is critical in good coffee) and the best beans/collection of beans to use. We all have to cut back, but this is where I don't mind spending a few extra bucks. So, haveatit. tell me your preferences.

  • Why? What's the Science?

On coffee and tea containers, they always say "start with cold water".

It may seem silly to ask, but why? Is there something about hot tap water that would make the coffee or tea......? Just something I've wanted to ask for years, and I've never heard it addressed on any of the shows I watch. What's the story?
