  • Who has the most authentic Chicago-style pizza in Chicago?

We'll be visiting Chicago in a few weeks, and my wife wants to try the famous Chicago-style pizza. She wants it from a local place in the heart of the city, a place that's been in business for at least fifty years or so, and that's a favorite among lifelong locals. I'm sure there are plenty of options. Where would you suggest?

  • If rarebit stew becomes difficult to obtain, is there a commonbit stew that can substitute?

I've always wondered this since at any time rarebit can become quite scarce, as rare as it is!

  • What goes wrong with my Internet connection?

Ever since the beginning of time (1996), every now and then when I'm on the Internet, I'll notice that I'm still connected, my web page isn't loading, my modem is sending data, but receiving nothing, and I sit there and keep clicking Reload in an attempt to get anything to load. What is likely going wrong at a time like that?

  • What is the difference between ZIP codes 38136 and 38199?

I know they're both mail sorting facilities in Memphis, but are they the same facility or separate facilities? I've seen some packages go through one and some go through the other, and I've even seen a few go through both.

  • Problem with a girl I work with?

There's a girl I work with who doesn't talk to me anymore. She used to. She may have even liked me at one point, but I was too stupid to notice. But now she avoids talking to me at all, and tries never to make herself available for me to talk to as well. This girl is, in my opinion, very beautiful though others say she's just "kinda cute". But that combined with her physical stature really intimidates me and makes it hard for me to ever ask her what the problem is. The few times I have managed to say anything, I seem to make a complete fool of myself.

But she acts like she may be scared of me or may wish I just didn't exist anymore and tries so hard to ignore me, and I mostly just leave her alone as well, though I know neither one of us can completely ignore the other since we do work together, and have for over a year. We don't have a problem talking to other people, though. It's just the two of us. I'm really tired of this little game and I just want us to be able to get along, but I don't know what to do. I've never had someone try this hard to pretend I don't exist, and I don't even know what I did to her!

  • 1990 Buick 3800 V6 stalls after startup.?

Once the engine warms up, it runs just fine, but if it hasn't been run in several hours, it won't idle smoothly and stalls very easily, especially upon putting the transmission in gear. Does anyone have a short list of things I can check to find the problem?

  • What is another term for "on the rocks"?

To me, the phrase "on the rocks" for a drink poured over ice just sounds too pretentious and fraffly-fraffly. Is there another word or phrase that means the same thing that would be more-or-less universally understood at a bar?

  • Where can I buy Old Style in Memphis?

I'm in Memphis this weekend, and I need to find Old Style beer in cans or bottles. It's sold on every corner in Chicago, but it's not so easily found in the South, so not just any grocery store will do. But I'm sure there's a place or two in town that stocks virtually every brand of beer in existence. Any suggestions?

  • Where can I find Jerry Lee Lewis's recording of "Rock and Roll" without Jimmy Page's part added?

Months before his album 'Last Man Standing' was issued, a short preview of the song, without Jimmy Page, was posted to his official web site. The guitar part was added later. Not taking anything away from Mr. Page, I would be very interested in hearing the entire track as it was originally recorded. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

  • Question about timber columns and slenderness?

I'm not an engineer, nor do I play one on TV, but I have an engineering question. I must support a weight of 1750 pounds with a timber column that is 8.5 feet long, unbraced, with a safety factor of 2.0. Will a plain 4x4 do the job without buckling, or should I use a built-up column?

  • How much compression can an 8-foot wood 4x4 handle without buckling?

I'm building a deck with treated lumber and I need an idea of the capacity of the posts so I can space them closely enough to stay well below their limit. I'm planning to use square posts that measure 3.5 inches by 3.5 inches, and vary in length from 5 feet to 8 feet.

  • I'm looking for a good, authentic Creole-style restaurant in the French Quarter. Any suggestions?

Nothing too fancy, though, as this trip is already going to cost me an arm. We've never eaten in New Orleans before, and I want to try out the food they're famous for.

  • My car exhaust stinks. Why?

I have a 1990 Buick LeSabre, and for the past month or two, my exhaust has been smelling like an old car, but it is still running perfectly smoothly. I keep up with my fuel economy, and my average mileage hasn't changed.

  • If I'm building a 1:76.2 scale model of a structure that can hold 320 tons...?

...and I want it to be able to hold proportionately the same amount, how much weight should I design it to hold? a. 4.2 tons b. 110 pounds c. 1.5 pounds d. Some other weight e. Not enough information given I'm leaning toward c since weight is proportionate to volume in materials of the same density, but I'm asking to be sure.

  • What is the best damn fish restaurant on the Mississippi coast?

My wife and I are going to Biloxi in May, and it's her specific request for me to take her to the "best damn fish place" there. So, especially for locals and anyone else familiar with the area, what is your recommendation? I'm particularly looking for a place that serves locally-sourced dishes.

I have several rolls of 35mm film that need to be developed soon, but I don't need prints yet. What are some of the more affordable places to take it, and, if known, what do they charge to develop the roll without making prints?

  • What is Hannah Montana's budget per episode?

In addition to keeping special effects and new sets to a minimum, I've noticed that they follow very strict rules concerning extras and guest stars to keep costs down. It makes me wonder what their budget is per episode. Anybody know?
