If two dissimilar bulbs are connected in series, the one that comes first (i.e. directly after the positive terminal) should glow brighter because it gets more I (current). There is certain resistance offered by this bulb and therefore, the next one has lesser Voltage (PD). Ideally, what my text says is that the first bulb will be brighter and the second dimmer.

However, the question says DISsimilar bulbs! So assuming the length of filament and the thickness of the filament remains the same, with the metal changing between the first and second bulb and thus its resistivity, where the resistivity of the second bulb's filament is higher than the first's, which bulb will glow brighter?

According to the application of Joule's heating, Heat = (Squared of) Current * Resistance * time and the incandescent bulb relies on heating for illumination (heat is proportional to resistivity and current). Since the second bulb has higher resistance, shouldn't it glow brighter? But there is also certain opposition to current in the first bulb and therefore, current flows with less intensity to the second bulb. So, the first bulb has a higher current and less resistance whereas the second bulb has a higher resistance and less current. In this case, which one will grow brighter?

I am currently in the tenth grade. I love computers and want to continue my education in that field. I'm also excellent at English (language) and sometimes wonder what could be the best of both worlds for me? What exactly should I do after high school?

Also, I live in Mumbai (India), so local examples would be great. But I also have an interest to study in N. America sometime later. Help me out please?
