Workers Comp Lawsuit Question?
I was a police officer and was in a car that was struck by a drunk driver. I was forced to retire as my head injury prevented me from continuing to work. The city council of the city I worked for in Virginia has frozen all workers compensation settlements. They say they wanted to study the issue but nothing has been done to move it forward. I am unable to work and they have left me on workers compensation which prevents me from receiving my VA Retirement. This is causing financial hardship for my family as I can't get the money I deserve and was promised.
Is there any legal basis for a lawsuit against the city council to make them move forward on this issue? I was injured in 2005 and this is just dragging on way too long.
