  • Why do we, as Americans, want a president who isn't more intelligent than us?

    Recently, I've been hearing a lot from the Republican candidates that we shouldn't vote for Obama because he thinks "he's better than us" or that he thinks "he's smarter than us". My question is, why would you want a president that is as intelligent or less than the average American? I would hope that the president is at least as intelligent as the intellectual elite in this country, if not more. Please explain this need for our president to be "just like the average American". Do you really want a president that is just as smart as "Joe the plumber" or "Ron the construction worker"? Doesn't make any sense to me...
