I'm pretty hard up on cash and looking for my first car and I'm thinking about getting one. I'm planning on using Carfax and taking it to a mechanic to get it checked out but i want to know if it was well taken care of how long will the car probably last before I hit a major problem?

It is a 5 speed and has about 176,000 miles and is un-customized.

Its a 1999 I'm looking at. I was thinking a 1997 Toyota 4runner sr5 too but I wanted something with good gas mileage too since I will also be driving around the city. If its not can you recommend something else? Good gas mileage or not. (No American cars please)

I'm thinking about buying either a SR5 4x4 or a regular V6 2wd. Which would you recommend? Also is the 2wd a fwd or rwd? And about how many times a month will you need to buy gas assuming you drive it every day but only about 2-5 miles?

As you may or may not know flames come out of the exhaust pipe when excess fuel comes out and is ignited by the hot exhaust pipe. It happens all the time on off road truck races and stuff. So is there something to make that happen in a street car? and is it legal?
