  • CONFUSED horse rider looking for help!?

I am sorry if I sound dumb but I need help. I got a new instructor a while ago but she only gave lessons for about 2 months and then she moved . She occasionally comes through to my town and gives me lessons. ( About once every 4 months ) Before her ,I was blind leading the blind ( and I'm still very blind ) I haven't found anyone worth while yet but I am trying someone's lessons out next week . Now the last time I had a lesson my instructor showed me how to get my horse on the bridle as he is really soft she says and he tries hard for me . My question is , and it might sound stupid , but how should you be warming up before asking your horse to come on the bridle ? Should I be trotting on a long rein and then take up contact after a while or should I be taking up contact as soon as I start to trot. (All this after a long walk on long rein ) And how is your contact supposed to be when working long and low ?

  • Where do you start and what can you do to become a really good horse riding instructor?

I have been riding for 3 years now (I'm 17). I still have A LOT to learn and I still sometimes get nervous . I get lessons every week but I was thinking about going overseas as a working student at a dressage yard or something when I am done with school. Is that a good idea?

  • How can I get the freshness out of my horse quickly?

I have been so busy with school work lately so I haven't been riding much . I have a thb and he is normally calm and relaxed but I took him on a trail ride on Sunday and when we turned around he was marching back as if there is no tomorrow. He is perfectly fine in the dressage arena but when we get to the jumping he gets a bit wild. I jumped and lost my balance so then he catered away and he was so difficult to stop. Any advise on how I can quickly get the freshness out of him? He usually settles down if he gets worked 3/4 times a week but I have tests coming up so I will only be able to ride him 1/2 this week.

  • Should I still become a vet?

Today my friend and I went to a local vet to see how the job is . A dog was put down and I started crying. I didn't think I would cry because it was better for the dog because he would have suffered .

  • How does smell affect horses?

My friend and i went for a ride around a farm and there was this place where the horses just didn't want to go. There was a terrible odour in the air .We think it might have been a dead cow or something . And a while ago I rode another horse and she was fine in the beginning but we walked past a decomposed cow and it was really smelly. After that she was so spooky and worked up . (Not my farm)
