  • What is Nursery Water?

I'm seeing mention of 'Nursery Water'. I've been looking after kids for over 20 years (including my own for eight years) and have never heard of nursery water. Is this a regional thing? And what's wrong with just boiling water anymore? (Heavy metals get more concentrated I hear....).

  • Why Do So Many Moms Not Want to Do What's Best?

Twenty five years ago, it was 'normal' to feed cereal to newborns....AND to carry your child on your lap in the front seat of a car. We don't do that now!

8 years ago it was recommended to start cereal at 4 months. 5 years ago the age was 4-6 months. Now, the recommendation by the AAP is not to give anything but breastmilk before six months. This is based on research that shows infants are lacking the enzymes to digest anything other than breastmilk.

Why do I see so many moms on here giving formula to infants---in one case the mom started at one week old!

And why are so many moms not willing to breastfeed? If you're not interested in providing the best to your newborn--even if it means some challenges for you--then when do you decide to put in the effort? Breastfeeding is actually not hard or painful, if you get the right info. Formula is hard on babies. Those are the facts. We know what's best, why are so many moms not interested in giving their infant the best food?
