Is there any website for comparing short term car insurance in the UK?
I usually use gocompare.com or confused.com for comparing the normal insurance prices. But, they do not seem to have an option for short term insurance quotations. I am lazy to enter the details again on different sites. So, I am wondering whether there are any sites for comparing short term car insurance.
1 AnswerInsurance & Registration1 decade agoCooling of period for car insurance?
Hi,
I purchased a car insurance policy from Hyperformance. But, I had to cancel this within 10 days due to some problems with the car. They say they are going to charge me 45 pounds cancellation fee and 62.50 administration change and another charge totaling around 115 pounds. For your information, the total premium is 980 pounds. As the policy was in cooling off period, I would have expected some fair treatment. Do you think they can charge me like that? Can I do something about this? I mean complaining to some one like Financial Ombudsman Service? I do not mind paying the cancellation fee and a pro-rata for 10 days accoding the premium amount 980 pounds which will be under 72 pounds. But, the additional 43 pounds is the one I am worried about.
I would appreciate your advice.
Thank you.
1 AnswerInsurance & Registration1 decade agoWhy does Barclays close an account?
A friend of mine says that he has been informed by Barclays that his 4 year old accounts are going to be closed. They would not tell the reason. He has been running the accounts okay and has been using the accounts primarily for his savings. He never had any credit issues. But, even the bank staff would not tell the reason for the closure. They have just said that he did not meet the terms and conditions. What could be the reason? Any help in this regard is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

6 AnswersAir Travel1 decade agoLearner driver in the UK?
Hi, I am learning driving with an instructor. Also, I have got a car with insurance in my name. As you know, I need to have someone next me while driving. The DVLA website says "If you want to practise your driving with an accompanying driver, the accompanying driver must be over the age of 21 and must have held (and still hold) a full licence, in the relevant vehicle category, for three years."
My question is I have got a friend who is from an EU country and has his full driving licence for 10 years. Can he accompany me while practicing? Your advise is very much appreciated...
Thanks.

5 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation1 decade agoLife cover vs Accidental death cover?
Hi,
I am a 30 year old guy, who is thinking of taking an insurance cover against any premature death. I am unable to make up my mind here, which one is better? the life cover or the accidental one? What I understand is if I take accidental death cover it would cover only deaths resulted from an accidental bodily injury whereas if I take a life insurance that will cover any forms of deaths. Your advice will be very much appreciated.
Thank you,

4 AnswersOther - Sports1 decade agoTax Deduction for Dual Jobs: How does it work?
Hi, I have a little problem here. A friend of mine is a PhD student. He does some paid job in the University. He works just 2 hours per week in most of the weeks, and occationally works some more hours. The earning is around 25£ per week. Recently he got a contract where the pay is high and he works around 18 hours per week. The earning is around 680£ per week. This contract is very short though, just for two months.
When he got the payment for the first three weeks he was shocked to see that he just got around 50% of the salary. When he inquired about that, they have said "no tax allowance for the second job" or something. FYI, He submited his P46 with Option C checked.
Scanning thorough some Q&A, I could see that he could have done much better, for example by changing the main job as the temporary job. But the Univeristy job is a long term one, he will do that for another three years or so.
I would appreciate anyone's advice in this regard.
Thanks and Regards,
