3 AnswersRock and Pop8 years agoWhich statistical test to use?
So I just conducted a one-way ANOVA test and found a significant difference. There are 3 levels of the IV including the control. For all intents and purposes, the levels were (basically): low food amount, normal (control), and high food amount.
Since there was significant difference/result, which post-hoc test should I use? There are a lot that I've been finding, but I'm not sure if I'd even need to use a post hoc? If I do, please let me know which one seems appropriate given the basic IV levels. thanks!
1 AnswerMathematics9 years agoR&P: Favorite musical phases?
hey everyone! so I was listening to an album from The Horrors and I noticed how different their style has changed since their first album (Strange House) for example:
"Jack the Ripper" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOv0mlUWBIQ
(to the more recent) "Still Life" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJQk0jDZx8o&ob=av2e
Question: What are some of your favorite bands/albums that showcase how an artist has changed over time? Do you like the change? (I personally still love The Horrors... you can still hear some more punk songs even in their most recent album)

5 AnswersRock and Pop9 years agoWhat music video is this?
Hey R&P long time no see. I have a legitimate question to ask though :) I can't find a specific music video. This is what I remember:
- Alternative rock
- it has a girl sitting on a bed/changing clothes being bored. I feel like the video itself of this is sped up.
- the above scene loops around during the whole song
- It's most likely a 90s song/video
*I feel like its a Presidents of the USA song... but I'm not certain.
Any help is appreciated thanks! :)

9 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoRHH: Aussie hip-hop/rap?
So I was curious as to how many people listened to Australian rap/hip-hop groups, since they are amazing in my opinion. I'd like to recommend some to those of you who haven't listened before:
"Addicted" - Bliss N Eso http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDaFTVb662E
"What's Your Malfunction" - Funkoars http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrXtLFRTNyo
"The Festival Song" - Pez http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tczH283SwkA
Bliss N Eso is my absolute favorite if you were wondering (best albums would be "Flying Colours" and "Running on Air")
So... thoughts on the songs/artists? :)
3 AnswersRap and Hip-Hop10 years agoR&P: Straight edge and music cultures?
So most genres of rock usually have their own culture associated with it whether it be fashion, idealogies, etc. One that has interested me the most is "straight edge" which is basically a subculture of hardcore punk that abstains from drugs, casual sex, and alcohol. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straight_edge I guess some musicians outside of punk are like this but its much more prominent within that subgenre. Anyway question time:
1) What are your views of bands/people who are straight edge? Do you respect them? (I personally do, just because I could never do that).
2) Favorite straight edge bands/musicians? (doesn't have to be punk)
3) Most fashionable sub-genre? (again, not just for punk)
4) So if LSD is associated with psychedelic music, what drug is associated with punk?
5) Favorite sub-culture of a genre besides punk?
6) What rock genre has ideologies you could most relate to?
BQ1: Where does your username come from?
BQ2: Favorite cult movie?
BQ3: Pancakes or waffles?
8 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoR&P: Garage rock anyone?
So someone earlier today recommended The Sonics... and I'm actually so in love right now. (also thanks to everyone else who answers that question with wonderful artists/albums, I've finally downloaded them all!) Anyway after looking into the genre I noticed that I actually liked a lot of garage rock without knowing it. My favorite Sonics song so far:
"Strychnine" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7Nffq0bOgE
Questions:
1) Favorite garage rock band? (for reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_garage_rock_b...
2) What's your favorite genre/sub-genre?
3) What genre would you classify your favorite band into?
BQ1: favorite social networking site?
BQ2: do you tell the truth even when you lie?
BQ3: has a mysterious white van ever followed you? (apparently most taxis in puerto rico are like this... it was scary haha)
4 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoR&P: Music suggestions please?

9 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoR&P: Your reaction to covers of certain songs...?
I feel like some songs should never be covered. For others, I think its an absolute miracle that they were covered. Questions:
1) Your favorite original song (despite it having been covered multiple times)?
2) Your favorite covered song (better than the original)?
*Links are appreciated*

In honor of the riots:

BQ2: Favorite cartoon?
BQ3: Best punk album?
10 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoR&P: Albums that seem "out of place"?
I feel like most bands have this... especially one of their first albums.
Anyway, question: What is one album from a band that sounds completely different from the rest of their albums?
For example, the "On Through the Night" album from Def Leppard sounds distinct compared to the rest of their hair metal tunes:
"Wasted" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f67A6gF0pJk versus
"Pour Some Sugar On Me" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaG8faaFUMM from Hysteria.

9 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoR&P: Interesting name you got there...?
Just looking through my library and noticed some weirdish song titles. But yeah, up to you guys to choose your favorite song in which the title:
1) is in a foreign language?
2) has a swear word?
3) has a sexual reference?
4) describes you?
5) is totally unrelated to the song itself?

16 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoPlanning to visit colleges?
sup world.
So i was wondering when the best time to visit colleges were... I'm gonna be a rising junior and have a really tight schedule. some things I am curious about:
1. Best general time to visit? (months/seasons)
2. Should I visit during the week or on a weekend?
3. Is a campus tour satisfactory, or if I'm really interested should I spend the day with an actual student?
4. Would it be bad to visit when the students are on break? (no "college atmosphere" or whatever)
5. How long should the visit be? should it also include the surrounding town?
Any other advice is welcome. I'm only looking at one state school (UVA), the rest are either in the northeast or a bit down south (NC, TN, TX)
Thanksss :)
5 AnswersHigher Education (University +)10 years agoR&P: Blast from the past?
I discovered this INCREDIBLE band a few months ago and really wanted to share them with you guys:
"Sniper at the Gates of Heaven" - The Black Angels
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGXxcNkqdzA
They formed in 2004 and are pretty new. Their best album is probably "Passover" Also, I'd agree with a lot of people when they say that they sound like a mix of The Doors, Velvet Underground, Jefferson Airplane, and the 13th Floor Elevators. Agree?
Question: Any other new bands that are a beautiful mix of older bands? Links are appreciated!
BQ1: Most depressing thing that's happened to you today?
BQ2: Most exciting thing that's happened today?
BQ3: If your bedroom walls could talk, what would they say?

6 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoR&P: Uplifting songs/albums?
So basically the past couple of days have been absolute crap.... I had the worst trip of my life and pretty much puked my guts out for 12 hours. ugh.
Anyway, any songs to get you through some tough times? I've been listening to:
"Blow up the Outside World" - Soundgarden (hehe, okay not the most uplifting, but it works)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sC2GjXMk7i4&ob=av3n
BQ: Are you a fan of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"? (book or movie)
BQ2: Your favorite album this past week?

6 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoR&P: A solo? That isn't from a guitar?!?
What's your favorite solo in a song that doesn't come from a generic rock instrument (basically not a guitar or drum). This could include a sax, keyboard, or one my personal favorites, a clarinet:
"Breakfast in America" - Supertramp
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZZ343iT57M
BQ: Describe your life in 3 words
BQ2: Best reason to throw a pineapple through someone's car window?
BQ3: What part of America do you want to see?
15 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoR&P: Drugz are bad mkay?
So, whats a song that you consider that "drugs would sound like." Basically a song that is ridiculously mind-blowingly beautiful and magnificent.
Or you know if any songs remind you of previous trips you've had thats good too :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3gjYX5wftc "Bees" - Animal Collective (mmm opium delight)
BQ: Something cool that happened today?
BQ2: Last movie you watched? How was it?
BQ3: Favorite TV series?
6 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoDoes influence equal power?
If one has a great influence, does that necessarily mean they have great power?
If one has much power, are they more influential?
Give your two cents, examples, anything. I was just contemplating this and was wondering what other people think :)
