A 34 year-old Sugar lost to Ralph Tiger Jones easily really, while a 37-year-old Papp with a broken hand 3 months before the fight literally dismantled Tiger Jones and floored him 3 times in a bout that he won 118-107. Actually shortly after the brutal beating Jones took in that fight he retired saying "I never faced anyone like that"

Also NCAA and golden gloves middleweight champ in 1951-52 named Ellsworth “Spider” Webbnamed was something like the Jeff Lacy of his era and American press was predicting the end of Papp's reign at the Olympics of 1952 but Papp KO'd him in 2 rounds after which Webb said he was never the same again.
