This is my other account that I'm going to use for fun and annoying the trolls. I'll mostly use this account to keep the Rock and Pop section alive and maybe have fun in the Polls and Surveys section once in a while. **kind of on an extended hiatus, too busy for Y!A now. I've got lots of work to do nowadays. I'll come around occasionally.

  • What songs have studio versions that are absolutely nothing as compaired to their live counterparts?

Okay, maybe not to the extent that it's absolutely nothing, but still, I'm thinkin songs that usually have better live versions than studio versions. If you still can't think of anything, then just go for a live version of a song that's better than the studio.

Usually it's the other way around for me, but I was thinking about Jesus Christ Pose and that's another story. Boring(-ish) studio version:

    Matt Cameron as God:

I find live versions of this song so much more interesting than the studio version.

BQ: What is the largest amount of money you've spent on a music shopping spree? If you're an illegal song downloader, then how many songs did you steal in that spree?

me: I spent about $99.70 (USD) when one of my favorite record stores was closing down last month and got about 20 disks.

  • What is the worst semi-music related thing you've found out lately?

I haven't been shopping for music as much as usual and yesterday was the first time I went to Best Buy in months. I finally take the time off to go on a music shopping spree and then I realize they've shrank their huge music department from over ten asiles to five asiles that are half the size. Even worse is that most of the things they have in stock are just stacks of the same albums.

After I felt disappointed about that, I decided to my local record store that I haven't been to for two months. I ended up finding out that the record store moved a couple miles away. That's sad, I'm gonna have a rough time finding music now.

Anything semi-music related that sucks for you?

MQ: Any not too popular/generic hardcore punk bands to introduce me too?

  • Would you rather be able to narrow down your favorite songs or widen up your tastes in music?

Just wondering. Nothing more I can add except for BQs, but I don't feel like asking any right now.

  • What songs would you like to hear get covered by whom?

One song that I'd liek to hear would be AFI from this era (above link) cover White Zombie's Thunder Kiss '65 (below link)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivGTrSdyoBI

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EI1ptKcOlHE

Another cover I'd like to hear even more is a cover of It's Probably Me by Sting and Eric Clapton (above link) as done by Chris Cornell (solo, like his cover of Billie Jean since I don't think it'd work out as well in Soundgarden, Audioslave, or with somebody like Timbaland)

    MQ: Last album bought?

Mine was The Clash's debut for $2. I'm still waiting for it in the mail. I'm sorry, I was gonna share about it on R&P, but I bought the last copy from Fry's Electronics. At least I got lucky

  • How many telemarketing calls do you usually get per day?

I get loads and loads. Anywhere from five to twenty per day. Even after 8 or 9 PM.

  • Do you generally waste a huge chunk of your money towards music?

I'm getting bored waiting for the plane to Hong Kong so I might as well mess around on Y!A for a little while. I don't think I'll have a chance to choose a BA for this question or give everyone who answers TUs so if anyone could help me do that, please go ahead.

Regarding the question, for me, I think I'm going a little overboard with my music now. In the past five days, I've already spent $75 on 16 albums. I'm even burning money on basketball cards; I bought a box with 40 cards hoping for at least one jersey card or autograph, but the best things I found in there were only Steve Nash, Kobe, Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Derrick Rose, Nate Robinson, Ray Allen, and Kendick Perkins base cards. No rookie cards either. The best album deal I got so far in the past few days was $12.49 for a BYO Records box set with two clear red vinyl records, a CD, a DVD, and a huge book (originally $50).

    BQ: Do you like traveling?

BQ2: other than CD/records/casettes/8-tracks/etc. or anything else music related, is there anything else you like to collect?

I used to collect coins--up until two and a half months ago, when somebody broke into my house and stole my coin collection. There goes ten years of my life.

    Take care everyone.

  • Could you find some sort of connection between five of your favorite bands in some kind of way?

For instance, I'll randomly grab whatever I'm in the mood for today (Black Flag, Minor Threat, Fugazi, The Strokes, and Pearl Jam). Here's what I have:

Black Flag and Minor Threat are connected through Henry Rollins of Black Flag being a good friend of Minor Threat, even appearing as backing vocals on their demo tape. Minor Threat and Fugazi are connected through Ian Mackaye playing in both of those bands. Pearl Jam is connected to those bands by having their drummer, Matt Cameron who played in Soundgarden, being signed to SST Records (owned by Greg Ginn of Black Flag) to release the debut album for Soundgarden. The Strokes are connected to Pearl Jam because The Strokes played with Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam on the song "Mercy Mercy Me" and even had him sing along on a few songs while on tour.

  • Anyone get anything new that's music related lately?

I got my Herman Li Guitar in my avatar after two whole days!

Besides that, I also got two new CDs today. I got Furniture+2 by Fugazi on CD for $6 and some Rudimentary Peni CD for $12. That Fugazi CD is one of the neatest things I've ever bought. I opened it, slid the CD out of the compartment, and it turns out it's a clear, like this Muse CD pictured in the link below.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Transparent_uno....

I'll be opening the Rudimentary Peni CD in a few minutes.

I also found Black Flag's "Who's Got the 10 1/2" and "The End of Silence" by Rollins Band which made me so happy since I've searched a very long time for, but it was kind of depressing since they cost $20.

BQ: ever find some CD/record that you've been looking a long time for then become disappointed because the price was way too much?

  • Hypothetically speaking, what kind of guitar does Herman Li play for Through the Fire and Flames?

What color, brand, model, mods, accessories, all that kind of stuff.

Also, should I give up on turning myself into a guitar? It's been a whole day and I still have the same avatar. Should I stay or should I go?

  • Anyone else hate Doug here? plus a troubleshooting question and an MQ?

And also, does anyone know what's going on? I tried to change my picture to comply with my name, but it won't work. I can see it in the Yahoo!Pulse thing from my other account, but it's not showing up on Y!A. I also used that eyepatch avatar from International Talk Like A Pirate Day on my other account and it doesn't show up on Y!A either. How'd you guy get your guitars to work?

  • What are some of the randomest things you've noticed in music that are pretty ironic?

I was watching Ozzy on Jimmy Kimmel last night performing to promote his new album, Scream, with a song called Scream. I was also thinking about new music, like the future Soundgarden song called Black Rain. What I realized was that Ozzy's song has the same name as a recent Chris Cornell song, while Chris Cornell & Co. are going to do a song with the same name as Ozzy. That just came out of nowhere.

BQ: Speaking of random, what are some of the randomest things you do?

  • Which musicians would be interesting to see grouped up into a sports team?

In honor of things like the World Cup, NBA Finals, Stanley Cup (even though that was about a week ago), MLB season, and such, let's incorperate that into music. Well, we'd usually create a supergroup out of band members, let's make it different, a sports team. What sport would it be, who would be on it, what is the team name, and other stuff like that. Go ahead and use sports like basketball, football, football (American football), soccer, auto racing, wrestling, mud wrestling, whatever makes sense. If you have to make another team for something like mud wrestling, go ahead.

  • Who are some of the greatest non-musicians in music?

Record producers, roadies, photographers and such?

Some guy I'd like to mention would be Glen E. Friedman, a photographer who did amazing shots for bands like Fugazi, Black Flag, Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Beastie Boys, Run-D.M.C., Public Enemy and such.

  • What are some rare songs, b-sides, outtakes, alternate versions, lesser known songs, that deserve to be shared?

Here's a couple that are hard to come by, along with a few downloads:

This is AFI before they were even famous, covering Values Here by Dag Nasty. (feel free to download it if you like because this is off the downloads page of Dag Nasty's website)

    http://www.daghouse.com/extras/dag_audio/values_af...

I didn't really like The Cure's most recent album too much, but I really enjoyed the b-side off of The Perfect Boy, Without You

This is some unreleased song featuring Iggy Pop that was never released called Pain

This is some Foo Fighters b-side I found off of some Big Me promo called Winnebago

I know it's the wrong season, but here's some Saturday Night Live cover by Julian Casablancas

I love the tone of the guitar on Minor Threat's demo tapes

Can't find the link on YouTube, but here's a cover of Sham 69's If The Kids Are United by Rancid through a download link straight from Epitaph Record's Give 'em the Boot Vol. II page

    http://www.epitaph.com/media/download/audio/430

I still have more, but I have to look for them.

  • If you were me, would you rather spend five dollars on a cheeseburger or on music?

    Just saying. I'm thinking cheeseburger.

Speaking of five dollars on music, what was an album that you actually were able to buy with only five dollars? One of the best deals I had was about a year ago was five dollars for London Calling by The Clash at Best Buy on Black Friday.

  • What is your most played song, about how many times, and when was the last time you listened to it?

According to iTunes, mine is Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana, 149 times, and the last time I listened to it was on 5/15/09 at 11:26 PM, which is almost a year ago. I guess I haven't been using my mp3 files much. I have no idea what my real most played song is.

  • Which of these albums would you prefer: Disintegration by The Cure, The Clash (UK), or The Clash (US)?

For The Clash's debut, I'm leaning just a little more towards the US version. I just threw in Disintegration by The Cure just for the heck of it because I feel like buying it and I saw in on clearance at a bookstore for $8.

So basically, I'm trying to compare two albums:

The Clash (UK) vs. The Clash (US)

    The Clash vs. Disintegration

  • Have you ever narrowed down anything in you top songs of all-time yet?

It took me a while and I'm still not even close to done, but so far, I have Would? by Alice in Chains, We All Fall Down by Egg Hunt, Alive by Pearl Jam, and Train in Vain by The Clash on my list. I'll probalby finish by the end of the century (or not).

BQ: Since there's a lot of people who can't narrow down their top songs of all-time, then what is your song of the day at least?

I'm going with Train in Vain by The Clash today
