What is it that you love most about sports as a whole?
For me, it's how they bring people together. Football's classic example will forever be the post-Katrina New Orleans Saints and how they were able to unite a city and give them something to cheer for even when times were rough.
On a larger scale, the FIFA World Cup is probably the biggest. Even in a time where countires are constantly fighting each other in wars across the globe, we're all brought together by the sport of soccer and the World Cup shows this by uniting the world as a whole.
1 AnswerFootball (American)1 decade agoWhat was your ideal (it may be bias) superbowl scenario after every round of the playoffs?
For example, mines is as follows, based on coming into the week mentioned.
Season: Falcons vs Chargers
Wildcard: Falcons vs Ravens
Divisional: Falcons vs Ravens
Conference: Bears vs Jets
Yeaah as you can tell, I'm a Falcons fan
5 AnswersFootball (American)1 decade agoWhat do you think about the NFC South now?
It's only been 6 weeks into the season, but it's been plenty enough time to see which teams are for real and which aren't. So I ask your opinion and/or prediction: Who wins the NFC South? Let's look at the cases for each team:
Atlanta (4-2): The Falcons had a solid 4 game win-streak before collapsing at the feet of a hungry Eagles team. The best analysis I can make of it is that the Falcons, especially Matt Ryan, are not designed to perform on the road. Especially in icy places, where Matty is anything but Ice. However, I still have a feeling these are problems that come with any young team and will dissolve in a manner of time.
New Orleans (4-2): Same as record as Atlanta, but a different story. Superbowl hangover or not, the Saints simply haven't been excelling like they should be. Their first loss to Atlanta is understandable, but it was a game they should've won, considering it was at the Dome. However, their loss to Max Hall and the Cardinals is unexcusable and really exposed their many flaws.
Tampa Bay(3-2): Lost their second game in a row, this time to New Orleans. The Buccaneers started the season with quite a fast start, but have clearly slowed since. They are a very young team and are continuing to develop, so I expect as much.
Carolina(0-5): This team has been getting by with a sloppily-put together team for the last couple of years. They finally broke down now. This season isn't just for them. Maybe with an offseason of rebuilding, they can start to develop again. For now, they're long gone.
5 AnswersFootball (American)1 decade agoWhy does everyone doubt Erik Spoelstra?
He took the Heat when they were last in the league, and brought them 5th seed two years in a row. Plus, he had the Heat rank 2nd in points allowed per game and 5th in defensive efficiency last year. I mean, I understand he is no Pat Riley, and considering the talent, the Heat may have liked a better coach, I see no reason for people to say he will hold back the team's progress. Your thoughts?
6 AnswersBasketball1 decade agoWhich game do you think will be the best of the year?
In this NFL season. I think it will be New Orleans at Atlanta on MNF week 16. By this point in the season, both these teams will be 2 of the best teams in the NFC, and maybe even the league. Plus, the fight for the division can ultimately be decided with this game and thus it has huge playoff implications.
8 AnswersFootball (American)1 decade agoWhich do you think was a fluke?
Michael Turner's phenomenal 2008-09 season where he ran for 1699 yards?
or Michael Turner's subpar 2009-10 season where he averaged just 79 yards per game?
Personally, I think it's his 2009-10 season due to his recurring injuries and high expectations after a heavy workload the previous year. I look for him to bounce back to being a Pro-Bowl back next year and will continue to play at this caliber for a while. Your thoughts?
6 AnswersFootball (American)1 decade agoWho will the Heat have after this hectic 2010 offseason?
Once Dwyane Wade opts out of his current contract, the Heat will have the most salary cap space in the league. Plus, they will be the top choice for many free agents due to the lack of an income tax in Florida, the possibility of having Riley step down to be a coach, and the chance to work along side of Dwyane Wade, who is most certainly returning. With these thoughts in mind, who do you guys think the heat will snag and/or trade for this offseason?
5 AnswersBasketball1 decade agoWho is going to win the NFC South this year?
I mean, New Orleans is the title team and i get that, but Atlanta is looking to be a very legitimate contender with all their injured players looking to be back along with a revamped secondary. Also, it's just a stat, but no NFC South team has won the title twice in a row... ever.
5 AnswersFootball (American)1 decade agoAm I the only person who actually thinks Courtney Lee did a great job last night in LA?
I mean, it wasn't very smart of Orlando to, when an NBA finals game is on the line, put the ball in the hands of a rookie and expect him to make a shot like Wade did against New Orleans his rookie year. They already had lots of clutch players on the court; they should've went to Turkogulu, Lewis, or Howard. Also, on his blown alleyoop, he should've gotten credit for being able to break free and get to the hoop. Also, his ability to elevate and catch the ball put it under and get it off around Gasols arm was incredible.
I think he did a tremendous job for a rookie.
