If the experts are doing such a good job then why is there all this "save the planet" dialogue?
When we look around us we have a lot of leaders claiming they are the champion of resolve (what reputation do politicians have in general). Still people hope that someone will actually do what they promised before they were elected to office (therefore they become yet another "leader"). When things are bad, one side just points at the other side; but who is held accountable? Is it at all possible that the leaders might just have a lot of ambition and not very much expertise, therefore they may not have actual knowledge how to deal with these huge issues? Some suggest that the leaders are working for someone else's interest than the public? We are fortunate that all politicians are honest. Of course I might be unfair or just stupid?
Is it possible that bad policies continually have added up to the requisite situation where our chilidren and grandchildren are looking to inherit a polluted planet? Do the experts know the way out of these adverse situations?
Note: I asked this question in a different category.
1 AnswerOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoWhy isn't the government taking over to stop this BP leak?
If there is a fire or some other disaster we (in the US) have taxpayer funded resources to deal with these situations, like the Fire Dept. will handle fire fighting within a corporation, a business, public property, or even private property. The US government has a lot more resources and possibly more "experts" available to them than a corporation (especially one like BP that has a very bad record with violations that haven't been resolved even before this disaster). Considering BP's prior record with violations and now their slow resolve and the total possible disaster consequences to the US and Mexico why hasn't the government employed all possible resources to take over stopping this leak? If it was a fire in a forest, the government would send all resources available and ask for outside sources to respond. The government has the Engineering to send vehicles to the moon and beyond and use taxpayers money for that. Which is more important at this point? Does the government or the military have any expertise in capping this or not? I just heard HLN reporter Jane Velez-Mitchell (Issues) for some interesting finger pointing regarding both resolve and why the government and politicians haven't embraced protection technology that has been available for years.

When will all the planets in this solar system be in alignment? I heard that this happens about once every 13,000 years. Is that true? (Originally I asked about the Galaxy by mistake).
