A young lady that is still turning 16 that me and my partner know, showed up lastnight on our doorstep. She informed us that her mother has thrown her out of the house. She still needs to finish HS, and has no job or significant lifeskills, such as driving for example. Now, the question is, was it illegal of her mother to throw out her inexperianced child with no place to go as a back up? Is it illegal for this minor to be here in our house? (we are considering notifying the police that she is here, rather than just let her live in the streets). If she is not able to return to her mother's house, how can I make sure she goes to school when that is usually the parents' job of authorizing the child to enroll in school each year. I know, so many questions, but these are my concerns. I feel like my hands are tied.Please let me know soon. thanx.

I am on SSDI as well as VA compensation. I desire to move out of mississippi to the west coast and have a change of scenery for once. problem is, there is NOTHING out there in my income range to rent. At best, a weekly motel would cost about 3 to 4 times my monthly income a month. My question is this: will my income still be the same or will it be increased due to cost of living expenses? My friend is 19, he lives in a bad abusive environment at home. He wants to leave but his parents say they signed papers stating he is a minor until 21 on his 18th birthday a yr ago. But then his parents have threatened to kick him out, so that makes us both wonder if its true that they signed any papers. he was never notified or informed before it was done, he never signed anything or had to go to any hearing in court, those are other factors that make us wonder if its true. All we weant to do is just move him down here where he can thrive instead of being abused, but dont want the parents putting a warrant on him as a runaway and getting me in trouble or if there is really nothing to worry about? He lives in Laurel Mississippi, I live in Biloxi, ms if that helps. I know the age of majority here in MS is 21, but ppl can move out at 18 in MOST circumstances. My questions:

1. Can parents really sign any guardianship papers or the like AFTER the minor turns 18; making him a minor until 21?

2. If they did, does there have to be formal notification of anykind? (such as a hearing or signing papers?)

3. Can he just notify the police that he is leaving the house and going somewhere better? this way he wont be filed as a runaway or kidnapped?

4. Could I get in trouble for letting him stay here if there does happen to be papers on him like that?

I know about the proposition 8 thing going on in CA; but now I here that 18, 000 same sex cpls may be forcibly divorced??? I know that we have a long way to go; but come on! I paid for Limewire 2 months ago. It used to let me search and download songs and videos. My firewall is disabled; the connection is there. How come I am not able to pull up anything when I do a song search? How come it still shows that firewall-globe icon when there is clearly no firewall when I check the control panal? I am not very bright when it comes to software, lol, bare with me. Hello, we live in mississippi. at the end of October, another neighbor had called the city on my nextdoor neighbors. Well, the next door neighbor thought that me and my boyfriend had called the city on him.

So, he took it upon himself to call my boyfriend with legal threats over the phone. My boyfriend then pressed charges. Amonth later, our next door neighbor found out it wasnt us who called the city and appologized to my boyfriend. My boyfriend then called the police station and asked for the charges to be dropped against the neighbor. The person on the line told him the charges would be dropped. Well, about 5 days ago, our nextdoor neighbor was arrested for that charge 2 months back that was supposed to be dropped. Now it is also illegal for us and our nextdoor neighbors to even talk to eachother. How can my boyfriend go about this to make sure it is dropped for good without having to go to court? If this proceeds to the courtroom; will my boyfriend get away with not showing up for court(in hope that the judge will throw the case out if he is not there to tesify against this neighbor)? or will my boyfriend be arrested for not showing up even though he is the plaintiff? help please! thank you much!

I have this neighbor who was pretending to be my friend so she could get dirt on me. I figured, "hey she's 47-maybe she's mature enough to hear this"-because she was whining about how immoral my fiancee's ex-wife was at one specific incident. So, i told her that it is no big deal if his exwife was a swinger and that we both do it-i specified that it is not cheating if both do it or one does it and the partner is aware of it and okays it. Then she "switched"-agreed that there was nothing wrong with it and that we are all adults(a minute ago, she was trippin over it???)Now that we have been having a huge fall out, she sent me a certified letter saying that me and my fiancee are fixing to go to jail for telling her "sick stuff" and doing "sick stuff"-WTF???

I know that plenty of states have wierd laws, but this isnt one of them. I still want to know if me and my fiancee are engaging in illegal activities or not. We do not give or accept money for sex. Nosy neighbors who go out of the way to trump up legal drama and keep it going on and on and on? usually a tiny fallout starts it!

bad conduct within law enforcement?

Ppl who are by far not perfect preaching u to death on the bible(a few PROSTITUTES called me a whore and said I was sinful and should read the bible! lol-just because I am openly non-monogamous)

Ever had the police called on you multiple times for no reason? (your day is going just fine then a policeman knocks on your door saying an anonomous caller called him out b/c u supposedly did something wrong?)

Ever had the City, Fema, animal control or anything like that called on you even though you are law-abiding/non-fraudulent? and Fido is just fine?

Were u ever hated on because you are different? (in my case, I was raised in las Vegas, i have a very open mind. been preached at, threatened with arrest on false charges, ran out of a place i was paying rent at by my neighbors harrassing me...it goes on, sigh)

Again, i am not labeling EVERYBODY who lives here or from here; just those bad apples that make it hard on everyone else here. I even moved back here twice to give mississippi another chance-because my fiancee also has a house here-so we're stuck here until it can be repaired.

These odd ?s i ask b/c i want to know if me and my fiancee are the only ones going through all this or if others have experienced this kind of treatment here(MS) too. (we basically just camp out at home and mind our own buisness, law abiding, and we find stuff to do on our spare time instead of using it to cause drama, open, honest ppl) These answers can be more than just "yes" or "no" answers. We are trying to get outside perspective on this; we are considering relocating from this environment and find our niche somewhere else.

I have been having problems with a neighbor for about a month now. My wallet was stolen(I made a report) and this neighbor loaned me $15. B/c I no longer have ID(it was in my wallet), she also shelled out $10 to pay for my dog's Rabies shot. Then she bought me and my fiancee a carton and a half worth of cigarrettes to last until payday. Payday rolls around; I gave her back the $25 and bought her 2 cartons of cigarrettes plus about $40 in gas and took her to a nice dinner at a casino resturant. Well, a few days after that, I bought a lease to own PC laptop. I was more preoccupied being on my computer and was avoiding her as well(Because I was weary of her; all she did was gossip about our other neighbors and brag about the charges she slapped on them and other legal difficulties she is putting them through-so I felt uncomfortable being around her b/c of that-I thought she was mean-spirited). Well, about 3 wks ago, me and my fiancee were both over at her place just talking and stuff-nothing seemed wrong. Well, after we got home, I got all these text messages on my phone accusing me of not wanting to be her friend, that I thought she was a piece of sh*t, and no longer needed her b/c of my "stupid computer", etc. This was like 3am! I called and confronted her on it, she said she was "just playing, take a joke". I said fine, but we are sleeping and dont want to be woke up. Then we sparadically spoke to eachother(I was being pleasant but distant) and called my fiancee haggling about me being on the computer all the time. Then one time we were passing an email back and forth about how sick she was feeling-replied back on what remedies to use, etc. Her response was a nasty one; alternating between gossip about others, how we were avoiding her, that the feds were going to seize my computer(b/c i am a swinger and belong to several adult groups-is that a crime?) and that i STILL owed money! Called and asked about it; she said it was an old email(but it was dated on that day!) said not to worry about it. I was more weary of her then and me and my fiancee even came over there and had a seemingly pleasant agreement about her disturbing emails, phone calls, and txt messages. so I thought we were all on good terms. Thanks giving rolls around; we are invited and we have a nice time over there-nothing seemed wrong-nothing was brought up out of the ordinary. So, to cap off thanksgiving; me and my fiancee paid for a $90 hotel room for ourselves. Our night, ya know? Well, at 3 am AGAIN she starts txting me all the way until about 7am about how much I owed her and why and that she was going to contact her atty in the morning. We could have spent this sleepless night for free at home(i did not respond to txts; called her but would not answer but still txted me). The only reason those txt messages stopped at 7 was b/c I had my pcs provider change my number and my fiancee's number. I also blocked her email address. The neighbor then confronted my fiancee about not being able to reach us; he told her that the numbers were changed, and that we wished there would be no more contact between her and us-she told him not to worry about those txts; she was just blowing steam! But she was still told that we should cut ties anyway. That was 2 days ago. Now today(sun) she left a nasty letter on our gate(handwritten with a paralegal's signature on it) demanding she wants her money(apparently i owe her $290 all together! I only borrowed AND paid back the $25 and cigarrettes plus gas! in her letter it says that some of our neighbors plus ppl we dont even know are telling her that we are going to the ghetto and doing crack! That i am falsifying information and using false names(What!?)-we only went to the ghetto a few times to visit friends(drug and drama free friends!). That we are going to jail and that if I dont get her the money by tomorrow(which is today now) that i will also be paying her atty fees and court costs! WTF!!!???? We got so scared that we WALKED about 5 miles to the police station just for them to refuse to look at the letter(plus the one shoved in our mailbox we found on the way to the police station) and say there was nothing we could do, that there was no proof she tresspassed and that it was not a crime to write a letter and leave it somewhere(on our property). We even stated she was told to leave us alone. We walked back, picked up a money order for the amount(We just want to pay her anyway and just get her out of our hair), went to the only open place(the casino) obtained copies of the money order with the same letter i wrote on both copies stating that we no longer need to be in contact at all). So when we got home; I paired up the copy letter(with photo of money order w/ reciept stub) and the money order-i put the original letter w/photo and receipt stub aside for me to keep. Me and my fiancee both went over to her house(b/c she was up and we knew it) armed with a tape recorder incase she would try to incriminate us for

I have been having an ongoing problem for the past five years: I constantly keep running into people and neighbors who either take advantage of me or try to take me through the ringer if I no longer want to talk to him or her. I can put down some examples: A neighbor of mine was going to trial for innappropriate touching a child; so she called CPS on me when i refused to let her babysit my new born child(I was not neglecting him, I fed and clothed him appropriately and had suitable babysitter for him already) then she turned all my neighbors against me thinking I was a bad mother-I was ran out of the trailer park! I had a roommate with an income; he refused to pay towards half the rent after we both signed the lease-then he called the police on me saying I put my hands on him-because I would not give him $90! I was lucky no charges were pressed. Me and my fiancee let a homeless man his son knew stay over for a few wks-he refused to contribute(he WAS employed) and came to our door one night. He started yelling at ME saying I have a problem with him-I refused to accept the rent money he finally came up with and told him to pack up and leave. The next day he showed up and refused to leave-I called 911. Then a month later, he showed up and said my fiancee owed him the $20 I refused to accept! By the way, I never spoke to him the whole times he was staying with us-I stayed inside most of the time, and he was at work-no way we could have spoken. My fiancee's son was homeless and we let him stay with us. we bought him things he needed and let him stay rent free until he found a job. Turned out he was lying about having a job when he got one-turned out he was not the director of operations like he claimed; but just a volunteer at the humane society! then all that time he stayed with us; he spread rumors about me.

My fiancee threw him out. Another time; I had a babysitter (references incl with her)-she ended up stealing from me and had her boyfriend come over when she was supposed to be babysitting. I told her i didnt need her services anymore and not to come back.

Okay; examples aside, i am struggling an uphill backsliding battle trying to figure out how to stop being taken advantage of. Just saying "no" doesnt work: The person I say no to retaliates in return with anything from intimidation to trumped up charges. I want to know WHY I keep drawing these ppl to me, I want to know how to recognize it before it happens, I want to know what makes me a target in the first place, I want to know how to NOT be a target, I want to know if it may have anything to do with my upbringing, i want to know what I am doing that may attract this kind of attention, I want to know if maybe I should just move from where I live(past 5 yrs). I really need your help. I have been losing friends over this because they are simply sick of me telling them about this drama(but I need to get it off my chest and get answers). My own mother has become disgusted with me because I cannot seem to learn from these experiences.
