  • unwed mother parental rights peace of mind?

Okay so at the moment there is no custody order in place and no child support from the father. The mother is halting all visitation until after a court order can be established. the child has been in the home her whole life (shes 13 months old now), father has paid about $100 in the 7 months since the split and he moved out. Before that they lived together just over a year, no marriage license or joint tax return. From what I have researched you have to live together, have a marriage license, and file married on taxes to be considered common law married in Texas. and from the research I have also learned that an unwed mother has sole custody. The fathers name is on the birth certificate. My daughter is just worried of what she can do if he finds her and removes the child from her without permission. she is nervous and frightened that the father may take this as he's NEVER going to see the baby again, but she has every intention of living up to the visitation awarded him. we were also wondering how long it takes legal aid to process and assign a lawyer if anyone knows. She's mostly waiting on that.

  • somethings not right here?

heres the history and the scenario, young couple gets pregnant, boy moves in with girl and her parents to help support her emotionally, wedding date is broken, he leaves her with the baby the day after christmas. Now he threatens to take the baby away over the most trivial things. last night the ex of the fathers new gf comes over and texts his ex and tells her and the baby's father that he's here. baby's father calls and uses the threat again against the mother of the baby. after learning that we were used as tools in a petty argument between the father of the baby and his new gf's ex. the boy is told to hit the road. now its the next morning and we recieve a call that the baby's grandmother (whom the baby's father lives with) wants to come get the baby till thursday and take her to the zoo today (baby is 1) while theres a high heat advisory. is it just me or does this sound fishy. while i don't want to step on a parental visitation i don't feel comfortable with this situation

  • Parent of the bride stress and discontent?

I'm a remarried single mom near 40 with some old fashioned views, my daughter is getting married shortly and I'm having difficulty getting my husband of 4 years to help me pay for my daughters wedding. he's set a limit that just isn't realistic for a first wedding. but after he set the limit he started buying all this stuff, old travel trailer, 4 wheeler, tractor and components, and an old truck. the kids have said they could do the wedding next year but my husband refuses saying that they can get married this year with the limit but i just don't see how. I'm at my wits end trying to be mom, grandma, wife, housekeeper, planner, caterer, florist, and seamstress so that we can save money. With 5 weeks to go we haven't even covered half of what we need to. I just don't see how it can be done. I just want her wedding to be as beautiful as it can be. there's true love there and I know it will most likely be her only wedding.
