  • Goose Behavior? Pair who don't seem bonded.?

I got a pair of geese about a year ago. A few months later, the male stuck his head through the fence of the dog pen and our husky grabbed him and killed him. I wasn't sure what to do for the female who was left, so we got a different male who was a bit younger. Well, they're both adults now, but they don't seem to have bonded. For about a month, I've been noticing the female hanging around our vehicles ALL the time. I just realized that she's staring at her reflection. Is it possible that she thinks her reflection is her mate? Her first mate looked exactly like her, but the newer one is all gray instead of gray and white like her. I think she's very fixated on her reflection and stands there staring at it all day. I'm not sure what mating in geese looks like, but a couple times, I've seen them grab ahold of each other's feathers on the lower back and circle around. Also, the female seems to be bonded with my husband, and the male with me. He can pet her and she's happy to see him, but frequently attacks me. The male doesn't attack my husband, but he can't pet him like I can. Are we interfering in their relationship? lol Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • What would you name a snail? ( NOT Shelly!)?

I have a pet snail, and I can't think of a name! The best suggestion I've had is Ishnail...i don't think it's great!

  • Possum in the chicken coop?

Last night, I found 2 of my banty chickens wadering in the icy driveway while the rest were roosted in the tree. I took them both to the coop, closed the door and went to bed. This morning, I went to let them out, and found one dead rooster, one very nervous hen, and a possum sound asleep in the corner. We tried waking him up, but he just showed us teeth and went back to sleep. We closed the coop for everyone's safety (after a photo shoot, of course lol) and waited till dark to open it back up. 2 hours later, he's still sleeping! My question is: Do possums usually kill chickens? ( I don't think they do) and do you think this possum will be a problem now that he knows he CAN kill a chicken? I think he was just in the coop for a free meal of chicken food and I threw the chickens right in on him. Let me know what ya think! Thanks!

  • I have a food obsessed cat.?

I have a little orange and white cat who came to me from a farm. Actually, she fell out from under a vehicle in front of my house. (why me?) Anyway, we've had her for 2 years now, and she is ridiculously food obsessed! She surfs the counters and tables for anything to eat, screams the whole time you're in the kitchen for any reason, and will jump right up and try to eat off your plate. We use a spray bottle on her, but she just comes right back, over and over and over. Has anyone tried those electronic devices that emit a high pitched sound? This cat is making us crazy!

  • What do you do with domestic geese in the winter?

Does anyone know what geese like to do in the winter? I only have 2 and they've always just slept out in the yard, but now we've had a blizzard so there's a foot of snow, and it's really really cold today. We built a 3 sided hut, put hay and food and water inside, but they won't go in it. They refuse to come in the garage and won't step foot in the chicken coop. Do they normally just lie in the snow all winter? I feel so bad for them walking around in their little bare feet!
