...Yahoo Answers?

Quite honestly I'm fed up with the way this place works. I came here thinking it would be interesting to read and answer questions for vegetarians, especially new ones that are still discovering how it all works. It's something I know a lot about - and I care about it.

What I have instead found is that the system is set up to allow an enormous amount of abuse, where gibberish can be voted as the 'best answer' by the very same people who posted the so called 'answer' - insults, lies... and endless repetition of the same old basic questions that have been answered a thousand times.

It's a shame. YA is a great idea - but it isn't delivering what it obviously is supposed to. Its like asking for mortgage advice from cavemen, or fashion advice from nudists... so few real sincere questions are met with real sincere (knowledgeable) answers.

So should I give up - is it worth answering any more? I do have a life you know!! I have other things to do - so this just seems like a waste of time now. :-(

What do you guys think out there? Are we wasting our time here?

BTW - I don't hide my answers like the trolls - before any of you (the trolls) call this trolling, like you do - check out my answers.

I get a bit bored by trolls (John the Troll in particular) who hang out making snide comments in their answers. In the real world a smart Alec sitting in the corner making stupid comments about peoples conversations would quickly become unpopular. I know there are people who just don't know better but I am confused as to why someone would make such an effort to continually chip in in an unhelpful way to so many answers. Surely they are aware that what they are doing is unhelpful, unfriendly, immature and even abusive - it is the same mentality as bullies and gangs that attack people for simply being different.

So my question is - what do you think is going on with people like John? Why do you think they feel the need to do this? Have you noticed they always have their Q&A's private - why the secrecy? Or is it just cowardice? Why do you think he will dogmatically select an answer that fits his prejudice rather than learn from people that know something he does not. If I was so self satisfied that I didn't think I had anything to learn from people I would just stay in bed - so what motivates people to parade their ignorance so publicly?

I am desperate to discover the answer to this as for me it is a great mystery. Looking forward to your answers - and the inevitable abuse!
