Has the 2007 National Intelligence Estimate report on Iran been discredited, or just ignored?
In 2007 the National Intelligence Estimate reported that Iran had suspended its nuclear weapons program. But in the ensuing months, I have consistently heard politicians (both D & R) make ominous warnings about Iran's nuclear threat. All through the presidential election season I kept wondering why the "threat" from Iran was being invoked, but the NIE report was being ignored. Did I miss something? Did a consensus somehow emerge that the NIE was wrong? If so, what was that consensus based on?
