Legal advice: Can this company potentially be sued for this?
I frequently use a certain auction site where they charge you to schedule your item and they take a percentage of commission on the item sold (excluding shipping).
On August 16, the company announced they would begin taking a percentage of the shipping price starting August 26.
I sold something on August 19 and when I looked at the fees, I saw they had already put the shipping tax into effect. The company made no mention of pushing the date up one week.
My question is: Is this considered false advertising? Can this company be sued for what they are doing? I am not the only person who got this unpleasant surprise of an early tax on shipping. So could a class action suit happen?
Thank you all! I am looking for some legal advice from someone who specializes in business practices and potentially a lawyer if I have a case here.
4 AnswersLaw & Ethics8 years agoDiscrimination or tough luck?
There is this auction site that I buy and sell on and I recently got my best friend interested in it. After buying a couple things, she realized she had some stuff to sell.
The problem is that this site requires a Facebook account that is not a "fake or throwaway account" for identity purposes. She's not allowed to have any type of social media account because of her religion. When she contacted customer service, they told her that there was no way around that requirement.
My questions are: is this a form of discrimination? Or is it just tough luck? And could this be a legal issue?
I feel bad that she can't take part in this just because of her religion. I understand that there are other sites to sell on that don't require a Facebook account, but I feel everyone should have a fair chance. Not everyone has or wants a Facebook. There should be alternatives to this darn requirement.
Anyway, actual helpful advice please.
Thank you!
1 AnswerFacebook8 years agoAdvice with ebay/paypal problem?
My ebay account recently got restricted and I had no idea what the reason was. After two weeks of trying to work with both ebay and paypal, I was informed that I had a negative balance under a different paypal account that I never created. And this was from 2010...before I ever opened up a bank account. Only now am I being told about this. I was told that the balance of $220 was sent to a collection agency and must be paid before my ebay account can be used again.
My question is, what do I do now? A stranger (not a friend or a family member) used my information. Another question, if that balance was sent to a collection agency, wouldn't it show up on my credit report? I'm not sure what I should do. I definitely do not want to pay for someone else screwing me over. I don't even have that much money in my bank account.
I would prefer professional answers only since this is greatly putting a toll on life. I make my living from selling on ebay.
Thank you so much!
4 AnswersSmall Business8 years agoCan someone help me out with this?
I'm just looking for a few more people to answer this question. Should I meet the girlfriend of the guy I hooked up with last year? They were broken up during the time he and I had relations and now they've fixed everything and are back together. Now this girl wants to meet me. And he wants me to meet her too.
I'm not sure if I should meet her or not. That's why I'm coming to you! Please leave your answers or choose yes or no from http://poll.pollcode.com/4tg51v
I need a few more votes on here so I would really appreciate some opinions. Thank you!
3 AnswersOther - Family & Relationships8 years agoOld Western Memorabilia Expert in Orange County, CA?
I bought a Jesse and Frank James wanted poster from the swap meet. It looks aged, and I need to find an old western expert in the Orange County area to tell me whether this thing is real or not. I don't wanna have to go all the way to Vegas to take it to the pawn stars haha.
So please give me only helpful answers. Thank you!
1 AnswerLos Angeles9 years agoWhat do you do with your financial aid money?
I've been receiving financial aid for college for the past four years now and I've been wondering what students buy when their financial aid check comes in. I've accepted grants (and most recently loans to help pay rent).
What do you guys do? Thank you!
