  • Does the DMV accept walk-ins?

I've wanting for a while now to go in and take my Learner's Permit test. I scheduled an appointment, but it isn't until two months during school. Can I just go into my local DMV early in the morning and just ask to take it?

    Much obliged.

  • Where's a good place to get a cheap paintball mask?

Me and a few of my friends were planning on going paintballing this weekend, but I am in no mood to deal with the crap that I get with a $10 mask rental. A friend of mine suggested I just swing by Wal Mart and pick up a cheap one for around $25. I have $30. I'm not looking for pro-grade quality or something that's gonna last a lifetime (I paintball like 3 or 4 times a year). So should I go with my friend's advice?

  • What's Microsoft's Policy on the RRoD? (Red Ring of Death)?

The warranty on my Xbox has been expired for almost a year now and I was wondering if Microsoft covers the Red Ring of Death on non-warranted 360's. Last thing I need is being caught dead one day with an RRoD and no warranty.

  • Xbox 360 Console/HD Issue?

I suppouse the problem can be classified as both an HD and a console issue. Anyways here goes:

Recently my 360 has been having some wierd issues. After turning on the Xbox and playing it for a certain amount of time (the time that it occurs is pretty random) my Xbox will automatically restart itself. It does two things: annoy the crap out of me, and take my HD settings from 720p back down to 480p. When I go to System Settings it says the HD switch on the component cable "box" is flicked to TV mode. Of course when I go back to look, it's flicked to HDTV mode.

I've checked the component cables. They're all in check and securely fastened on the side of my tv and on the back of my Xbox. The switch is pushed all the way back to HDTV and it still refuses to fix the problem. The most effective method I've found to temporarily fix it is to turn off my Xbox, pull the cable out of my Xbox, play with the switch on the component cables, and plug it back in.

To make things even stranger, I had the same problem one year ago. Eventually the problem went away for whatever reason and has mysteriously popped back up for the summer. I'd call Microsoft but I know that they'd probably misdiagnose my problem, have me send it in for a $99 fix for the Xbox and not the cables. Then I'll be stuck with an empty wallet and an Xbox that doesn't even work right.

  • Can somebody help me with Sigma Notations?

Our Algebra teacher has been very stern that we write and complete sigma notations HIS way. This may or may not be a benefit to our class considering I cannot seem to find his methods on the net. If any of you happen to know how to do these problems and would care to explain to me how to do them, then that would be great. So here's a few problems I need help on...

    Write in Sigma Notation:

    2+16+54+128...+1024

    4+24+44+64+...+404

Also...find n if the sum of the geometric series is given:

    Sn= -65,104 : 1 - 5 + 25 - 125 + ...

    Sn= 484/27 : 12 + 4 + 4/3 + 4/9 + ...

    Much obliged.

  • Question about absolute value (algebra)?

I understand how to solve the basic absolute value equation in algebra like, [6x-3]=15, but when another number is added OUTSIDE of the absolute value brackets, what do you do? For instance, in the equation 2[2x-3]=16, would you divide the two on both sides of the equation? If not, could you give me some specification and a quick walkthrough on how to go about solving this? Thanks.

  • What's wrong with my Xbox 360?

My Xbox 360 has had a strange issue in the past month or so. Whenever I decide to play my Xbox, about 20 minutes after powering the console up, the device automatically restarts itself. No warning, no error code, no red rings. A simple restart. I have called Xbox Support and they have run me through the things that might be giving me problems. Hard drive is securely fastened, the restart button is not held down, and I have tried switching power outlets. However, I do note that switching the power outlet will give the console a temporary fix, ONLY under the cirucmstance that the console has restarted itself once, and I change the power outlet after I completely shutdown the console. So once again. What's wrong with my console? How can I fix it? Has anyone else experienced it?

  • What's Wrong With my Halo 3 Disc?

Today, I popped in my copy of Halo 3 into my Xbox, while waiting in the matchmaking lobby, the game stops and a notification appears on my screen saying the game cannot be read. I reinserted the game and restarted the system with the game in it and it still did not work. I popped out the disc and examined it, no scratches at all, it was a clean surface. I did not move the console in any way while I was playing it. I've also experienced this a couple times with my copy of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, but it was able to work later on.

  • Hooking up a Router to a Modem?

Alright. I recently got a home internet service, the internet and cable company (Comcast) supplied us with a Modem. I wish to be able to play on Xbox Live, but my dad wants to be on the internet while I'm playing or when I' not. This presents the problem, the Modem has only one ethernet port and for us to be able to do what we want to do, one person has to give up use of the box. We want to do both our things without having to change the ethernet cables every other 20 minutes. So, I heard about the ability to use a router with your modem. The proccess of setting it up, and a specific type of router I would need is what I need answers to. Thanks.

  • Xbox Live IP and DNS Tests Failed?

I'm having trouble connecting to Xbox Live. I just switched over to Comcast's internet service and they supplied me and my family wtih a modem. I did the thing that I did with my router, put one end of the ethernet cable in the back of the modem and the other in the back of my 360. Didn't work. Upon further research I input my IP address, DNS, Subnet Mask, and all that other crap that you need to put in manually. I was able to pass the IP Test, only to fail the DNS test too. I'm unable to pass the IP test again. Can somebody please walk me through, step through step, to the entire proccess on how to connect?

  • Xbox 360 Sign in Problem?

Originally whenever I would turn on my 360, it would automatically sign into my main account and connect to Xbox Live. Now, after I got the Red Ring of Death (and got it fixed, obviously) but now, I have to manually sign in to my account and go through the Xbox's long, painful proccess of checking my internet settings. How can I fix it to log into my tag automatically?

  • Does this sound like a bully to you?

There's a dude in my P.E. class who me and my friend hang around with and talk to. Anyways, I'm not sure if this guy is being a bully or just screwing around with me. He does the norm that happens in a P.E. class, slapping some people around, putting us in headlocks, but then we're cool after. But, on one day I started to question if he really was alright to be hanging with. He nabbed my gym clothes and my shoes and stowed them away somewhere and really started to piss me off. First time he did this. Should I be hanging with this guy and how should I get out of this situation, he's really making me feel uncomfortable in the class, and I worry about ratting him out to the teachers, first about getting jumped by him because of it, or the teachers just flat out not giving a damn.

Note: This dude's gym locker is literally right next to mine, and avoiding him wouldn't be practical. Also, it's too late in the term to get a transfer from the class.

  • I'm not sure about this guy at school?

Anyways, there's this guy in my P.E. class. Me, my friend, and this guy are always hanging out during class and stuff. He's a little odd, and I'm not sure if he's a bully or if its his way of being friends. It's a kind of on/off thing with him. Somedays we'll be tight (doing the handshake thing and all)...but on some days he'll be all over us. One day, he was really pissing me off, and more so than usual. He starts by stealing my gym pants, then locking my locker (with my stuff in it) with his lock, stealing my shoes and hiding them, and after class stealing the same shoe and putting water on it. This is a first for him. On a regular day, he'll be roughing-it with some people, punching them and putting them in headlocks and all (normal behavior for my entire class), this behavior was odd and I don't know what to think of it. Should I be hanging around this guy and what should I do about it?

  • XBox Live Download Problem?

I recently tried to download the Halo 3 Heroic Map Pack for my 360. Having a slow net connection, I decided to hand over my harddrive to my friend, who offered to do it for $1. The next day, he brought the thing back to me, saying it worked and he was able to play Foundry with my harddrive. I looked up the stats on Bungie.net saying I (my friend on my account hardrive) played on there last night. After going home, I plugged in my drive and...not there. I know that I plugged in the drive because all of my stats were there, Gamertags, points, saves, but when I looked up my downloads it said that my download was still pending. What's up? How is it possible my friend was able to play Foundry with my harddrive without actually having downloaded the thing. I talked to him today asking what happened. He said that he was able to play the maps but the thing still said Download Pending for the Map Pack. What happened?

  • What's going on!?

My dad was seeing a woman for three years up to about last year they had a kid, going on 2-years-old now. Let me tell you, she was a B****, like a 5-year-old in a 40-year-old body, her "Mini-Me", in other words, her 5-year-old son was like her twin doing everything she did, b*****ing and moaning. She's always having fits of rage, in some cases involved me, and my possesions (my Xbox 360, some shirts, and a cell phone) So yeah...after about say...5 months of bitterness between the two...she's back. And they're getting along! It started out as a simple "I'm going to help paint our 2-year-old daughter's room!" which soon turned into "I'm going to spend the night at your house!" and "let's watch a movie together!" She's treating the place like it's her house once again! Now please, I need your advice on how to get this person up and out of my house.

And before you say counseling, I have been in and out, it hasn't helped, it never, will, I need this crazy woman, OUT

  • How can I get my Laptop's wireless internet to relay Internet onto my 360?

My title doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. Let me explain. I have a laptop with wireless capabilities. One, internally which came with the computer, and the external Sprint Air Card. I currently don't have access to any other internet source than my laptop at my home. How can I hook my Laptop up to my 360 so my 360 can play games online? My dad tried doing it by hooking an ethernet cable from the laptop to the 360, but all he got was an error of some sort. Anybody know how to make this work and is it possible?

  • How do you get your Parents to Accept Video Games?

My dad is a strict "anti-gaming" parent. However, he has given in to buying me a 360 and some T rated games for it. When it comes to M games however...it's a war. He totally does not buy games like Bioshock, GoW, Dead Rising, Crackdown, etc. as "fun". With assistance of my friends he has accepted Halo as an "acceptable game" but, he always poses the question on me whenever I want to buying a M rated game, "what is so fun about killing other people?" I would tell him "nothing" and he always responds with "then why do you play it!?" Got me there. He just tries to get me to play other stuff, but it's pretty unsuccessful. Sports games...just go out and do the real thing. Movie games...we all know those suck. Puzzlers...great for itsy-bitsy things like the DS or PSP, but $60 for a puzzle!? Ridiculous! So, I need help turning my dad. Help? I'm missing out on all these great games!

Can it snatch unsecured networks out of the air thus being able to play with another internet service? Is it reliable? Do you need a personal wireless internet service to use it?
