  • Having a baby after 30?

I have a sort of question, for mums and women out there in their late 20s/early 30s thinking about having a baby.

I am 28, my hubby and I would love to start a family early next year. The thing is, if things work out with his job, we may end up moving away for a while. This could put a halt to our baby plans, as we have to have IVF and where we would be moving is 2000km from IVF facilities.

I really wanted to have my first by the time I was 30, but seems it may not happen.

My question is: How did you feel about starting your family later? Do you feel this will impact harder on your life as time goes on? Do you have the same energy and drive past your 30s that you did late 20s?

Sorry if this seems a bit silly, but am really looking for others perspectives and experiences.

Thanks for your mature, helpful answers!

  • Any one experienced this? Please answer :-)?

I am 28 , have had very very regular medium to heavy periods for 16 years now. Have been on the pill for 4 years with no side effects or problems.

For the first time ever this month I have had cramping and brown spotting halfway through my cycle for 5 days then it stopped.

Then my period arrived on time 2 weeks later but lasted 2 days and I would have only lost about half a tampons worth of blood.

Never had such a light period before, not stressed, nothing is different in my life.

Have read about ovulation spotting and breakthrough bleeding, but I have never experienced this in 16 years.

Anyone had this? And what was it in your case?

    Thanks in advance for answering!

  • For those of you who believe IVF is 'selfish'?

I am a carrier of a genetic condition that would put any children I would have naturally at a 50% risk of inheriting not only the carrier status, but the full blown sydrome, complete with mental and physical disability.

My husband and I have been genetically couselled and have decided to undergo IVF, with PGD testing, to rule out this risk to our future children. We are not infertile, we are just being socially and morally responsible. We have to pay for this out of our own pockets.

To all you people out there who seem to think IVF is a 'selfish' course of action, 'sinful', or a leach on the taxpayers dollar, tell me -

How responsible would it be as future parents if we were to know about this huge risk and still choose to gamble by having a child naturally?

    and

How much money do you think that it would cost the government in the long run if I were to give birth to a disabled child?

Please, think before you decide to pass judgement upon those not lucky enough to be able to become pregnant naturally. We have enough pain to deal with.

  • Hello! Anybody out there successful on first cycle of IVF?

My hubby and I will be entering the wonderful world of IVF some time soon and I am wondering how many of you out there were successful on your first go?

Trying to stay positive, I know the chances of pregnancy can be pretty grim.

Thanks in advance for sharing your positive IVF stories :-)

  • Shuddering/quivering/vibrating womb?

Hello! Well I guess the above question kinda says it all. Have asked before and am looking for a few more answers :-)

Never experienced it before, but when I am sitting or lying down the past few days i have been experiencing strange 'shudders' or vibrations in the lower half of my uterus.

Am seeing the doc, but would like to know if you have experienced this and what it was?

Wondered if I could be pregnant as I had strange cramps a couple of weeks ago and tired, but I now have my period and a negative EPT to rule that out.

People with experience only please, wondering if it is common.

    Thankyou in advance! :-)

  • Trying to stay rational! Mums out there? A little help? Please? :-)?

I have been unusually tired lately, and find myself getting emotional at the weirdest things. Also, past few weeks have been getting these very faint, but recognisable cramps in my uterus - like slight period pain, but am not due for it yet. Had a period 2 weeks ago. Also have been finding myself feeling just a little bit nauseated, but only very slightly. Dont want to overreact and say its pregnancy, I am not throwing up, no sore boobs etc... but has anyone had the same experiences and what was it?

Also have had a little lower back pain for no apparent reason and am, well, a little windy, if you know what I mean. Sorry TMI! :-)

    Appointment with doc this week.

Thankyou and women with relevant experience only please :-)

  • Annoying bumps on eyelids?

I seem to be really prone to getting these horrible little pimple like bumps on and around my eyelids. They don't disappear after time either - once they are there they stay there.

I hate it, they look awful! Anyone else have this prob and know how to get rid of them?

    No morons please :-)
