  • Do Algerians speak more French than Arabic?

I speak Arabic...and have worked with a few Algerians. I've noticed that while they can and do speak fluent Arabic, when they are together...they slip into more French than Arabic. I've also seen an Algerian movie where the convos were almost ALL in French...I was expecting more Arabic.

Is French the more dominant language of DAILY life in Algeria?

  • What is the most embarrassing accidental email you've sent out?

Say, like an inappropriate "reply all"...wrong addresses...joke e-mail backfires...that sort of thing. I know there's gotta be some good ones out there.

  • Anyone stationed in Najaf, Iraq (Camp Golf or Baker)?

I was there 2003/04...have quite a number of pics if people want to trade. Would be interested in hearing from folks who were there during the Seige.

  • Combat Veterans: Do 4th of July fireworks make you nervous?

I came back from Iraq just before July 4th 2004...saw a fair amount of combat during my tour. I don't think I would say that I had PTSD or any lingering "problems" BUT...I did notice right away that the fireworks going off on July 4th made me nervous or "keyed up." It is almost a physiological response and I have no control over it. Hasn't seemed to diminish much over the years. It's not like "flashbacks" or anything...more of just an annoyance. Anyone else have this issue? Vietnam vets? Does this go away or what?

  • Has anyone discovered that their family's "Cherokee blood" story was completely false?

Everyone claims to be "part Cherokee" - I am curious...has anyone who grew up hearing these family stories (or even accepted them as "fact") actually done in-depth genealogy and discovered that the myth was false?
