  • Grandsons visiting from Switzerland for 2 months this summer. Ages 12 and 14. Any suggestions on fun things to do. We live in Prescott AZ?

Both boys are athletic so we plan to put them in the local boys club summer camp where they will get sports activities for several weeks. Also plan the Grand Canyon and a bit of camping in the National Forest near where we live and a trip to Disneyland. I don't know other family with boys, so it will be pretty much up to my husband and I to keep them entertained. The boys speak English, as well as three other languages so no problem with having them communicate with others. Anyway, all ideas, would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Any ideas what to do with Wedding Stuff?

Had a small wedding in July, 40 people for a sit down dinner. I bought 4 tablecloth overlays (banquet sized tables for 10), 40 ivory universal chair covers and 40 chair sashes to match the tablecloth overlay. I thought of donating them to a church or something but not sure that is the right place. Any ideas what to do with them would be appreciated.

  • I am a newlywed. What should I say to a girlfriend who wants to know why I'm not keeping my maiden name.?

My girlfriend is Hispanic and culturally, a lot of the women keep their maiden name after marriage, although I know several Hispanic women that have taken their husband's name. I am not Hispanic. Of course I can tell her my reason, that is I wish to honor my husband by taking his last name, but frankly I am looking for something rather "memorable" and "catchy" to say to her as I think, first of all, it's not her business. She tends to be rather judgmental, but I'm not looking to start a fight with her, just something that may stop her in her tracks and may make her stop before she asks the question of someone else. She has been married and kept her maiden name and we both believe in Women's' rights but we are not "ultra feminist" in any way, Any ideas on how to respond to her would be appreciated.

  • Any ideas to honor a mother at wedding?

Getting married soon. My mother will walk me down the isle as father is deceased. Traditionally, there is a father/daughter dance. Trying to think of something special to do instead of the dance with my mother. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

  • Anyone know of an inexpensive calligrapher?

Having a small wedding (on a tight budget) but would like to have invitations envelopes done in calligraphy. It will be a about 30 couples or so, so would need about 15 envelopes done, both inside and out. Might like to get place cards printed if the price is right. Anyone know of someone?

  • For my wedding reception, should I use flickering or non-flickering tea lights?

Wedding reception will be in a nice room at a local hotel. Fairly small, less than 50 people. Planning to use a centerpiece that is tall and above eye level when seated, and fill it with battery operated tea lights. Has anyone used the flickering ones (real candle effect) and gotten any feed back as to whether they are okay or annoying? I can also go with just the stationary light. Any experience with the flickering variety would be helpful though. Thanks.

  • Attend my husband's late wife induction ceremony?

Husband's late wife being inducted posthumously into school hall of fame for her various activities. I never knew her. My stepdaughter is wonderful to me and does not mind my being there. Others of her family, primarily late wife's very vocal brother and family, no longer get along with my husband. Other family members plan to attend as well as it's a small town and a big deal for the family - other family members do get along with us both. I feel, that out of respect, i.e. not intruding, not being there as they all think of their mother, sister, daughter, it would just be a kind thing to do and not attend. On the other hand, I don't want to appear as if I don't care, because she was a lovely woman and I love her daughter. I just don't want to be intrusive. What would you do and why?

  • Anyone know of inside small venue (24 people) for July wedding in Phoenix metro?

For various reasons, must plan my small wedding in Chandler, Gilbert, Phoenix, Tempe area for July 2011. Does anyone have any ideas where I can do the ceremony & lunch/dinner thing inside (for a reasonable price) or just the ceremony inside? If I could find a place just for the ceremony, I could find a nice restaurant for the reception. Thanks in advance for any ideas.
