I have a Dell PC running Vista and am trying to copy photos from the hard disk onto a TDK 700mb CD-R (have tried a few of these disks from the package of CDs). I have tried using the Burn command, right clicking on the photo files and clicking Send to, but I keep getting the message "Please insert a writeable CD" Have also tried going into the Computer and trying Format CD but get the message "Windows was unable to complete the format". (The CD drive has no problem playing CDs.)

  • What to do with a piano that hasn't been tuned in over 40 years?

A friend of mine has a piano that has been sitting in her living room for over 40 years and hasn't been tuned at all in this time. It sounds pretty awful. Would it be worth getting a piano tuner to look at it, or is it too late?

  • Do analogue radios work in Tokyo or do you need a digital radio there?

Have a son in Tokyo without a battery operated radio. As they've been having problems with electricity supply, I was thinking of sending him a small battery operated analogue radio from Australia. I believe radios are difficult to obtain in Tokyo because of panic buying of emergency supplies. Would an analogue radio work in Japan?

  • Is the London Pass with travel cheaper than just buying the London Pass plus using an Oyster card for travel?

I am planning on buying a 6 day London Pass but don't know whether it is better value to just use an Oyster Card for travel or whether it is better value to pay the extra for the travel pass that comes with the London Pass. I will be staying in South Kensington.

  • Oyster card London information?

I have been looking at the government site for the Oyster card but I am still confused. I will be spending a month in South Kensington, and hope to explore the London area by foot, bus and train. I am confused about the difference between travel cards and Oyster cards. I understand that you put credit on your Oyster card so you don't have to buy individual tickets when you travel, but the information site suggests that you need to buy a travel card using the Oyster card, if you want to take advantage of the travel card's cheaper fares. Can someone give me an "idiot's guide" to how this all works? Also, does the Oyster card work out cheaper than just using a travel card by itself?

  • Advice about pre-paid broadband USB?

I have a seven year old computer which has Internet access via a dial-up connection. It is very slow. I was thinking to try one of the prepaid broadband USB devices to see if it was any faster, rather than locking myself into a broadband contract. I mainly use the computer for email. I was thinking of Vodafone $99 which comes with 1GB. Is this a sensible option??

  • Problem with Word 2007 creating TMP files?

I open a Word file (may be a 2003 file?) from my USB in Word 2007 and edit it. But when I try to save the editing, I get a message that it can't be saved on the USB. Word then puts a Tmp file on the USB (e.g. WRL3045.tmp) I can't open or delete this file, and when I try to remove the USB I get a message that a file is still in use (even though I've closed all open windows). Help!
