  • My husband and I chose not to find out the gender of our 3rd and final child. I seriously regret the decision?

I don't feel as connected to this pregnancy, and I don't feel like I'm "bonding" the way that I have in my past two pregnancies. I know the surprise is well worth the wait, but its my last pregnancy and I really want to enjoy it, and I don't feel like I can with all the anxiety over not knowing.

Has anyone else felt this way, and what did you do, and were you happy with the result?

  • can you tell the sex of your baby by the rate of its heartbeat?

I'm 16 weeks pregnant. My doctor said the baby has " a nice, strong, boy's heart rate". I've heard people mention this, but how much truth is in it? I mean, how can a baby's heart rate determine its gender?

  • What color furniture should I buy for an orange living room?

I am in the process of painting my living room an orangey-gold color. The next room is camel colored, and the main accent wall is chocolate brown. My carpet is a dark burgundy-brown color. I am not sure what color to go with for the sofa and love seat. I want leather, but I am torn between black or a dark chocolate brown. Any advice?

  • Can you have ppd after 8 months?

I had post partum depression after my first son, who is now 5 years old. I have been totally fine since my second son, who is now 8 months old, until about a month ago. I just quit breast feeding when he was 7 months, and I started a new birth control pill. Mostly over the last 2 weeks, but for about a month I am really tired, and sad, and just not wanting to do anything. I feel like my husband doesn't love me anymore, even though he is not doing anything different. Is this weird? Is it because of the new pills? Or stopping breast-feeding? Any ideas?

  • How can I stop co-sleeping with my 6 month old?

My son started sleeping in bed with me when he was 2 weeks old, a decision I made because it has been easier for me while nursing. I was getting up every 1 1/2 hours to feed him, and I was too tired and impatient with my 4 year old. Now, he is 6 months old, and my husband doesn't want him sleeping with us anymore. I used the "Ferber Method" with my older son, but I'm wondering if there is an easier way that anyone has used?

By the way, my baby naps in his crib, but never for more than an hour.

  • I have a breastfeeding question...?

I am breastfeeding my 5 week old baby, and I always planned to stop at 6 weeks. I had a lot of problems with postpartum depression after my first son, and I think alot of it had to do with being so tied down due to nursing. Now, I am really happy nursing my baby, but my husband is still wanting me to wean the baby so he can help more. I have been pumping breastmilk so he can help, but when I am home I see no reason for me not to feed him myself.

Also, like I said, I really do enjoy nursing, but I really want my life back. I want to be able to drink, and smoke if I want to, (I quit when I found out I was pregnant-please no smoking lectures), but I don't know if that means having to quit breastfeeding.

Any well-meaning, kind words of advice?

  • 37 weeks and completely miserable???

I am 37 weeks pregnant, and I can't stand it anymore. Every day that I wake up still pregnant, I feel like I'm going to fall apart. My 4 year old son wants to play all day, but I just can't. I'm too tired, and I have this crazy pain in my pubic bone, I feel like I'm splitting in 2! Anyone experienced this?

  • Will a parasite from a cat hurt my pregnancy?

I am 22 weeks pregnant and just bought a kitten on Friday. I took it to the vet on Saturday and found out it has coccidia, a parasite that can cause toxoplasmosis. I am really freaking out that it will hurt my baby. I have had cats most of my life, so I believe I would have antibodies for toxo, but I have never been tested. Also, there is no guarantee that the parasite my cat has is one that is carrying toxo. I'm really scared. Has anyone been in a similar situation???

  • How can I encourage my husband to step up and be a dad?

I don't mean to be disrespectful to my husband--he is a great father, when he is being a father.

My son is 3 1/2, and my husband just wants to be buddies. When I discipline my son, my husband gets upset with me, and questions me, IN FRONT OF HIM. What can I say that will not sound condescending, but tell him that I need help, not judgement as a parent.

  • Anyone had an abnormal pap smear while pregnant?

I'm 9 1/2 weeks pregnant and my doctor's office just called and said I'll need to have a colposcopy at my next visit. I've had one before, and found out I have HPV, but that was 2 years ago and I've never had symptoms(other than ONE abnormal pap), and all my pap tests since have been normal. I just don't want anything to be wrong with my baby. Any one have any similar experience???

  • What do you think of the name Lucian?

My son's name is Landen, and we are looking for other names starting with L. Not sure on the sex of the baby, we want a surprise! I have been told Lucian (sounds like loo-shun) is too close to Lucifer! and that it is a devil name.
