  • What can I do to help this dog without causing a huge problem?

My neighbors are away, and we watch their dogs. However, they have a handful of kids, and the dogs are slightly neglected. One of them has an ear infection so bad that he can barely eat, and cannot shake his head without yipe-ing. The ear itself is disgusting... swollen and seeping pus. Gnats are always buzzing around it,and the seeping has caused matting, which has caused hot spots in the area too.

They claim to have taken the dog to the vet, and have a tiny bottle of ear drops, but there is no way a vet would let a dog go on in this condition. These are super nice people who are probably too poor to get him to a vet, and get the long-term care he needs for such an infection.

We try to spray the area down with H2(Ocean, and mop up what we can of the pus. I then put medicated powder in, but we can barely lift the dog's ear without him being in pain.

Long story short, I really want to take this dog to the vet ER, and get him a solid cleaning. They would need to anesthetize him, but he desperately needs it. I want to do this while they are away, but I know it will be expensive, and possible illegal??

I just don't know what else to do. This dog is in so much pain, and I feel like these people are just going to let it rot until he has to be put down. That is just not fair to the dog.

Anyway, any help or ideas would be appreciated. I feel a bit better having written this out.

  • Did I bruise my finger bone?

Three weeks ago, I was gardening, and a thorn punctured the top of my middle finger. It only bled under the skin (swelled a bit and bruised), and the hole closed up quickly.

While the bruise color is now gone, but there is still some swelling and pain to the touch.

Is this just something that takes awhile to heal, or did I bruise the bone?

  • Why do I have tiny red bumps on my forearms?

I have small pimple-like, non-itchy bumps on my arms. They come and go, and there are only about 4 or 5 at a time on each of my forearms. I haven't found any on other places at all.

At first I thought it might be bug bites from my weekly horseback riding lessons, but I have missed the last few lessons, and the bumps are still showing up and going away every few days.
