  • Is this mechanic trying to rip me off?

I bought a 1996 ford contour for 1,500.00 with the understanding that it needed some work. I didn't take it to get a diagnostic before signing the bill of sale (big mistake i know this) but i took it to the mechanic yesterday and he basically told me i wasted my money. I am willing to put 500 in to my car maximum. Here is a list of what he told me i need to get done. Please tell me which of these are absolutely imperative.

    Computerized wheel alignment - 70.00

    Complete coolant exchange - 90.00

    Radiator hose package - 130.00

Brake fluid exchange package - 50.00

    oil change - 34.00

    Serpentine belt - 41.00

Remove and replace alternator drive belt - 56.00

    oil leak diagnosis - 28.00

    Coolant leak package - 28.00

    Front break package - 130.00

Front disc break rotor - 50.00x2

front disc hardware kit - 10.00

    rear break service - 350.00

    axles L - 127.00

    axles R - 66.00

Remove and install axle shaft assembly, both - 170.00

  • How many low income republican people are out there?

I'm not trying to spark up a huge debate here, but what are the chances of low income people being republican, and if they are do you think it's more based in their social views rather than their economic? Do people care more about their social views being respect or their financial well being?

  • Car buying, Is this a good deal?

I'm thinking about buying this car. Its a 1995 Infiniti sedan, new engine about 74,000 miles. There's a very large crack in the windshield and the leather interior is cracking. I'm a college student and i really need the wheels, so i don't care it its not super fancy. The guy is asking for 1700. What do you think? Should i buy it why or why not?
