I have an ASUS K55V series, which is about two years old. It has always occasionally shut off on itself, but no more than once every two months.

It has now happened three times tonight. I've downloaded realtemp, and it's around 60 degrees on average.

Could someone please help.

I'm currently in secondary school UK, high school for US. It's to my understanding that one has a salary whilst completing a PhD in astrophysics.

1) Does anyone have any idea how much this would be, and what would affect it?

2) In addition, what are the average salaries for jobs available to astrophysicists in the UK?

For the past three years, I've been with a group of people, two friends, let's call them Bob and Jim, and my brother. Originally, I was much closer to Bob, and fairly distant to Jim, however, as of late, I've become a lot closer to Jim.

Bob always got more attention from our group than Jim and I was fine with that for about two years. However, now, my view's beginning to change.

I'm beginning to see what type of person Bob really is - the `expecting` of attention type. I now don't even understand why I became `friends` with a person like him in the first place - it's impossible to have a conversation with Bob, as he'll either:

1) Not listen to anything you say, then move onto his topic

2) Interrupt you mid-way through what you're saying to talk about himself

3) Ignore you completely.

I don't want to move friend groups as I really like Jim, but unfortunately he can't see what I see.

We're all 16, any help'd be greatly appreciated.

So, I'm curious. Is this due to dark energy - if so, where did it come from? If not, is it simply due to the energy generated by the big bang?

Is this due to dark energy - as in more dark energy is in the space between two coordinates further apart from each other, hence expands faster?

So, a better question may be how do galaxies recede at different recession velocities. I understand that during inflation, the universe expanded exponentially, and overtime the expansion decelerated; allowing gravity to become dominant and form matter.

I also understand that acceleration of the universe is now increasing, and that the further away we are from a coordinate, the faster its recession velocity. (Am I right in thinking this is due to more dark matter?)

What I am unsure of is this, how, if all matter erupted from one singularity, can some galaxies be further away than others? Is this due to their mass? I just can't understand, if everything were to start from a singularity, how certain galaxies etc can be further away than others.

So I partially understand that matter from nebulae contracts in order to form a Protostar, and that the gravitational energy is then converted to thermal energy, to then promote nuclear fission - forming a main sequence star.

If I'm correct in thinking that planets/smaller masses cannot be stars due to them not having enough gravitational energy (from mass) to convert to thermal energy, why is this so? What is preventing the smaller masses from accumulating enough matter to eventually form stars?

Is it simply because there is not enough matter available to form a star, and hence forms a smaller mass/planet?

Any help greatly appreciated. I'd love it if you'd explain in depth :)

So, I'm 15, and extremely interested in the cosmos/astrophysics. I'll research things like dark energy, entropy and quantum mechanics in my spare time, whilst my friends are playing games.

It's my passion, and I'd love to have a career in astrophysics, as math and physics are my strongest subjects. However, after researching possible careers, I found that the most likely career is working at a university.

I understand that I'm not really capable, at this age, comprehending the exact career I want in the future, but I'm just not sure working in a university all day, every day, for years would be the career for me.

Any astrophysicists/astronomers, what career do you have, and when did you realise that working in a university was right for you?

So I'm currently 16, and soon taking my A Levels (In UK A Levels are taken for 2 years leading up to uni), and then planning to go to university to study astrophysics. However, I do have a few questions:

1) How long is the average undergrad course (Bachelor's Degree - correct me if I'm wrong)?

2) What is usually involved in the undergrad course?

3) Upon completion of the undergrad course, what is the secondary level (PhD or Master's)

4) If you can choose either, which is better to take - PhD or Master's?

5) How long, and what is involved in each of the two post-grad courses (PhD/Master's)?

6) After completing this, what employment options are available?

So, in the coming years, I'd love to extend my training in martial arts to its country of origin, Japan. I realise that I'd need sufficient finances, be able to decently speak the language, and also have a basic idea of the culture.

I'm currently planning to complete my A-Levels (UK) then continue to University to study physics (astrophysics), to then hopefully secure employment. I'd then work for a few years, in order to acquire the finances to live and train in Japan for a year. I could also learn Japanese whilst in uni.

What are your views on this? Would it be better for me to take a, say, 1 month holiday there in order to learn the culture, then return with more knowledge to then train in martial arts for a year?

What's it like living in Japan, what things would I need to be aware of? Any past experiences welcomed.

From an early age, around 6, I started Karate, and grew to love it. However, I think to discover its true meaning, travelling to the country of origin (Japan) would be the best way. I'm currently planning to study physics at university (I think it's college for US), and then go onto become an astrophysicist in the UK. However, that doesn't mean I want to spend the entirety of my life here (England).

What I'd love to do, is move to Japan for around 1 year. Whilst there, I'd enroll in a martial arts, and train most days, but I'm unsure of how to do it.

TL;DR - Currently 16, planning to study physics at uni to become astrophysicist in UK, but want to live in Japan for a year to study martial arts, then come back to UK.

Would it be best to secure a job after uni, then after working for around 3/4 years (after saving money) travel there for the year?

In the corridor, she heard me speaking round the corner, ran and hugged me, then said "Can I have a hug". We only hugged for a second. but it was a hug nonetheless.
