I'm a rabid news junkie. I'm also into role playing games, films, comic books and all sorts of music. I also love to learn hence, I go to school. I am a PoliSci/Global Studies double major at the University of Minnesota (I'm also taking French). I was once in the Navy. I am very political but my views on issues tend to surprise. I am hoping to graduate in the next couple of years and work in journalism or education. i'm also a proud supporter of open source software. I use Ubuntu Hardy with KDE. I like to promote the use of Linux derivatives and being Microsfoft Free whenever possible. Lactose and Microsoft intolerant!

  • Do resigned public officials retain usage of title?

When someone leaves office or retires from duty, they can retain an honorary usage of their title like calling George Bush Mr. President or President Bush, Likewise a retired General can still be called a General provided the retired is after his name like General Wesley Clark. Can elected officials who have resigned their office such Elliot Spitzer and Sarah Palin still be called Governor despite resigning their offices?

Really curious what the official rule is on this. I know that most people would not care and continue to call someone by that title. But it seems that an honorary title should only be from the term that was completed. Is resigning an office not unlike abdicating? Would not one lose the use of a particular official title after the act of resignation?

  • I made nothing last year. Should I file? Am I eligible for anything?

I go to school full-time but I was unemployed all of last year. I didn't get unemployment benefits either. I've been told to file regardless. I've also been told that I could get funds which seems strange to me since I made nothing and was taxed nothing.

Anyone know about this and how I go about it? Someone who really knows tax code explain this to me.

    Thanks

    Happy Tax Day!

  • Is this really a break or a break up?

There's this man I've been seeing. Things were going fabulous until recently. He had a family emergency and wouldn't tell me much. I missed him terribly after 4 days. i was over at a friend's house and my friend convinced me that he was dumping me. i bought it and acted on it. i left a voicemail asking. It pissed him off terribly. Later, I got a chance to explain myself. We talked on the phone and during the conversation he said someone had done the same thing to him before. I said I am sorry so many times that I think its meaningless for me to continue doing so. I can't even begin to express how sorry I am. He said he wanted a break so he could figure things out.

So is this really a break up or is just a break? i'm prepared to wait a long time for him because he's so special. He's the best thing that ever happened to me and I'm afraid I broke my own heart.

  • Can a relationship between a bi man and bi woman work?

I'm a bi girl who's going out with a bi man. We both firmly believe in monogamy. I've read of lots of marriages where one of the couple are bi but not both. Just wondered if there were any other both bi couples out there and how things have gone? Hate hearing that bi's will always lust after someone of another gender other than their spouse/partner. How is that different from a gay or straight person who strays?

  • Guy I'm seeing seems cold and distant...?

He's going through a family emergency and can't use his call phone. He sent me a message on myspace on tuesday when we were supposed to go out. The message said he'd call me when he got into town. I sent him a message three on Thursday saying i missed him and I love him (the last time we saw each other we admitted we loved each other). His reply to me was that he had no reception and that he didn't know how long he'd be. I found the message cold and distant. It hurt me a lot but I guess whats going on must be very serious. On the other hand, there are land lines and I don't care if I only hear from him for two minutes and he calls me collect! Some of my friends think he's really testing me or he's off having a fling. So what should I do? I want to just sit on my hands and hope for the best but I'm very sad, I miss him very much and I don't think I'm psycho. I'm not planning on stalking him. And I don't want to be needy but he's being less friendly then acquaintances I have at school.

  • is there a federal law to retain Pay Phones?

I was at school and a girl needed a phone. Her mobile was dead and she really needed to make a call. There were no pay phones anywhere in the building nor the three surrounding it. I thought about the fact that there are vanishing and how even with cell phones, there are still times when they are unreliable, out of power or service is non-existent. Further, there are still portions of society that do not own cell phones. I wondered, if there was a federal mandating that there be at least some in various places where they would be needed most. Anybody know anything about this?

  • What steps do I take to get a breast reduction?

I understand that there will be a lot of undesirable answers but I want some serious answers.

For years I wore a 42DDD thinking I was that size. I have needed to wear bra since I was 8. I was a 42DD when I was 13. So, I've always been large chested. I recently had myself sized and to my surprise I am a 42I. A friend of mine who works in lingerie didn't even know there was such a size. After discovering this, I've decided the time has come to seriously get a reduction.

I'm only 5'1" and overweight and realize that I need to lose weight anyways and that is what I am working on. Part of the reason I'm overweight is because working out is painful. I also have pain in my right collarbone and shoulder. But I need to know the steps I should take to get this hopefully covered by insurance.

    Real answers please!!!

  • When Noah was building the ark?

I was inspired by someone else's answer and was curious. When Noah was building the ark and he hit his hand with a hammer, did he still yell Jesus Christ? If not what else.

  • Why did Barnes and Noble get rid of the Collectors' Library?

What I mean were these handsome small hardcover editions of classic works of literature. The edges of the pages were gilded and they fit nicely in coat pockets (therefore, perfect for carrying on the bus). But one day, they completely vanished from the stores. The website does not carry them except through after-market vendors. Its been some time since they disappeared but if anybody knows, please, I'd like to know why.

  • How do I get a firearms license in Minnesota?

A couple of friends and myself want to get our firearms license. One of my friends and I are prior military and have used firearms as part of our training. But we never thought about the civilian license until recently. Unfortunately, any information I can gather from the Internet is geared toward hunting and youth. If anyone knows a place thats offers courses and training in Minnesota (preferably Dakota County), it would be much appreciated.

  • Where can I find a photo of the Nike wearing anarchist at the Seattle Protest in 1999?

Back in 1999 there was this ironic photo showing this kid wearing nikes kicking a Nike sign as part of the protest against the WTO. The photo was incredibly ironic and I need it for a presentation I'm doing on the contradictions inherent in Global Civil Society. For such a widely distributed photo, it is not at all easy to find!
