Mister
Why, when I delete 18G of files from XP virtual machine, does it only free up 4G space on the C drive?
I moved the files to another drive which correctly registered 18G less free space.
I "permanently" deleted the originals from the XP virtual machine.
Why the discrepancy on the C drive?
2 AnswersOther - Computers10 years agoDoes running XP virtual machine in Windows 7 add any extra layers of protection to the Windows 7 system?
I currently have XP virtual machine running in a limited user account. I was wondering if going through XP adds any more protection to the system - as opposed to just using the limited account (without the virtual machine).
Can I be less careful in XP mode then in normal user mode? Or does XP mode have all the same access to the system as the user account?

1 AnswerChemistry10 years agoPorosity and permeability of soils question?
Why do finer sands have a higher porosity and a decreased permeability, then coarser materials?
Does this relationship remain the same regardless of the material (grain) size?
Can other factors like roundness and smoothness of the grains affect porosity and permeability?
Thanks.
1 AnswerEarth Sciences & Geology1 decade agoRegarding the 4 forces of the universe, how do they specifically contribute to different forms of energy?
Forces:
Strong nuclear force
Electromagnetic
Weak nuclear force
Gravity
For example, I am told that weak nuclear force contributes to geothermal energy. What exactly does this mean? And what energy types do the other forces contribute to, and how?
PS. Don't assume I know much about science >> try to explain in simple language if possible
Thanks.
2 AnswersEarth Sciences & Geology1 decade agoWhy does my computer print the wrong alt-code symbol to the screen?
I was trying to use the alt code for the infinity symbol [alt 236], but on my Windows 7 computer it comes out as ý
Does anyone know why this is happening and where I can get the correct code list for my computer?
I've tried using both number pad and keyboard numbers.
I've tried with the Num-lock on and off.
I've tried with many different fonts.
I read on one of the websites I checked that alt 128 - 255 are different on some computers, but that resource was sparse on the details.
From the character map, I know that the unicode number is U+221E, But I don't know how to use unicode to get the character on the screen (I've tried different ways and combinations of using the above code)..
In the past, others have asked this question with no suitable answers. I know the code [alt 236] works on most computers. What I'm asking is why doesn't it work on my computer and what can I do about it?
