Born at an early age
I'm just a bored teenager with apparently no life. I love to act, and be on stage, but my pesteringly pragmatic philosophy and inherent insecurity about my own performance level causes me to consider whether that career choice is smart. I also love to think, and ponder about life and philisophical inquiries, but for the same reasons as acting, along with a general dislike for actually reading philisophic works, I don't really find it such an appealing course of action in college or in my professional life. Hopefully, I will get around these mental obstacles and actually end up enjoying life, but for now I am content to sit here and answer questions, ignoring the terrifying prospect of having to find the right college and get accepted. "There are many cases of particulars" ~Aristotle Aristotle is just straight up the man. "Oh what a piece of work is man!" ~Shakespeare So is Shakespeare.
Why does my car sounds like a helicoptor rotor?
Recently my car started making a noise. It sounds like a sort of scraping sound that accelerates at the same rate as the car so that when I'm doing 20 it's very noticeable and when I'm doing 70 it's essentially not there. I have found that when I'm turning, if the steering wheel is turned and I'm moving, there is no sound. But as soon as I straighten out it starts again.
Also, as I decelerate, especially from higher speeds, it affects the whole car and I can feel the steering wheel and the brake pedal shaking from the sound and whatever is causing it.
I saw somewhere that I may just need to rotate my tires. Is it perhaps something more serious?

I'm just looking for some examples. I wouldn't mind some examples of the accent over an [a] either.
1 AnswerLanguages1 decade agoNeed data for Political Science research?
I'm doing a research paper for a political science class and need a little help finding the data I need. My research design boils down to this.
Economic Growth = Domestic Military Consumption + Investment + Net Arms Trading
Economic growth is simply the rate of change in GDP, those stats should be easy to find.
Domestic Military Consumption is tricky. It is only the spending that a state devotes in the budget to all functions of it's domestic military, to make it distinct from the arms trade. Which brings me to...
Net arms trading. This is the net import cost and export gains a state incurs in it's arms trading.
And finally, investment. This is the level of foreign investment in a country.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I really just need to know where these stats are compiled (if they are at all). Just in case you're wondering, I'm doing a case study because I only have a week and I'm not good at statistical things, and my two cases are China and India (although if you can make a case for two better cases of developing states that spend heavily on their military, I'll listen to reason).
1 AnswerOther - Social Science1 decade agoI got a ticket for disregarding a stop sign and the officer only asked for my license, not my registration...?
A couple questions.
1. Is that grounds for dismissing the charges?
2. In the State of Virginia, does that carry a points penalty?
6 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoWhat's a well-known play that could be called "fantasy" that isn't Midsummer?
I need a fantasy play for make-up class and everyone does Midsummer, so I don't want to use that.
2 AnswersTheater & Acting1 decade agoIs there a single act in any of Shakespeare's plays that can stand alone?
I have the opportunity to direct a one-act at the end of next semester, and I would love to do something by Shakespeare. I'm racking my brain trying to think of a play he wrote that has a natural cutoff at any of the act breaks that I could use and I can't think of anything. The only other qualification is that it can't have more than 8 characters.
1 AnswerTheater & Acting1 decade agoTheatre Research Question...?
I'm thinking about applying for my school's Investigative Studies Program, which provides housing and a stipend for 6 weeks for a number of students to perform research and do some sort of project with a concrete result. The problem is, that format is difficult to fit as a theatre student.
My question is, what sort of project would be possible for me to do in 6 weeks with limited resources (i.e. what proposal would I submit to the committee as my "idea" for my investigative study session?)
Some of my thoughts...
~Do a collaborative experimental acting session (probably not enough time for this, I'd need a fairly talented ensemble, and what kind of concrete result would I get?)
~Some sort of comprehensive acting theory report (probably not impressive enough)
~Write a play (Once again, probably not impressive enough)
The only example I know of is a fellow student who spent the summer researching Egyptian hieroglyphs from the Book of the Dead, transliterated that into a text, and set it to choral music, and it is now being premiered by our college's concert choir.
So, any ideas?
2 AnswersTheater & Acting1 decade agoSteve Slaton for Fred Jackson?
Another manager has proposed that I trade Fred Jackson for Steve Slaton. My league awards 6 pts for TD's, 1 pt for every 20 rushing yds, and a 5 pt bonus once you hit 100 yds rushing. Scoring is the same for receiving except you also get 1 pt for each reception.
Fred Jackson will be giving way to Marshawn Lynch once he returns, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Slaton suffer a sophomore slump.
Good trade?
2 AnswersFantasy Sports1 decade agoFantasy Football Week 2 starters?

Currently starting I have
WR- Steve Breaston (WR-Ari) vs. Jax
WR- Braylon Edwards (WR-Cle) vs. Den
RB- Frank Gore (RB-SF) vs. Sea
RB- Fred Jackson (RB-Buf) vs. TB
TE- Benjamin Watson (TE-NE) vs. NYJ
W/R/T- Torry Holt (WR-Jax) vs. Ari
W/R/T- Nate Burleson (WR-Sea) vs. SF
And on the bench I have
Kellen Winslow (TE-TB) vs. Buf
Antonio Bryant (WR-TB) vs. Buf
Derrick Ward (RB-TB) vs. Buf
LenDale White (RB-Ten) vs. Hou
Cedric Benson (RB-Cin) vs. GB
My league is set up to reward return numbers (Breaston and Burleson?) fairly significantly, and has bonus points for 100 yds rushing and 100 yds receiving.

I'm trying to settle a debate among siblings, many of Eddie Izzard's recent shows have been performed in a suit with a goatee. Is he still mainly an action transvestite or has he moved on?

3 AnswersPerforming Arts1 decade agoWould a retina transplant be an effective strategy to implement against Stargardt's disease...?

I know that for Stargardt's specifically they're been experimenting with some acne drug high in Vitamin A, but could retinal transplants bypass the whole treatment aspect or would the genetic mutation simply ruin the new retina?

4 AnswersEngineering1 decade agoIs it illegal to pull your catcher and put him somewhere in the field?
Because there's almost no strategic advantage to having a catcher if there's no one on base and there's less than 2 strikes? Couldn't a team theoretically take their catcher, have him take off his mask and switch gloves and stick him behind 2nd base until someone gets a hit or there's 2 strikes?

4 AnswersElections1 decade agoWho actually owns the land you think you own?
Imagine you own a large plot of land somewhere on in Texas on the border of Mexico. What if, for some reason or another, you decided you wanted to donate that land to Mexico. How could the government justify seizing that land and telling you you couldn't give (or sell for that matter) that land to Mexico making it part of their country.
The next question of course, would be, couldn't we hypothetically buy another country in this fashion?
