  • I was at a party recently and the host had as one of the appetizers a dish she called "Cowboy Caviar".?

I have researched and researched for a dish the compares to her's, but can't find anything that sounds remotely close. She said she got the recipe from a lady who visited Russia(she said it was in a Russian Cookbook). I've asked for the recipe twice, but I guess I'm not going to get it, so I'm asking you guys. I can remember some of the ingredients, but not all. It had a layer of cream cheese on the bottom, layered on top of the cheese was black beans, garlic, onion(maybe?), and I remember her mentioning either lime or lemon juice. The most destinctive ingredient was chopped boiled egg on top of the dish. It was served with Tostido chips and was GREAT! I don't remember tomato or peppers being in it.

All the "Cowboy Caviar" recipes I've research on the Net are totally different than the dish I ate. I would soooo love this recipe.

  • How to get rid of tapeworms in cats/dogs?

Is there another alternative (instead of the Vet giving shots/pills) to get rid of tapeworms in cats/dogs? Someone told me that a drop on iodine mixed with food each day for one month will kill heartworms in cats and dogs, but wasn't sure of a "over the counter" med for tapeworms.

  • Sugar grams & Alcohol Sugar grams?

I'm reading & paying attention to food labels and trying to cut back on my "sugar" intake each day. What's got me puzzled is this.....on some labels it will say, 0 grams Sugar, but right below that will give a number of Sugar ALCOHOL grams per serving, such as 5 alcohol grams???. What's the difference? Is the ALCOHOL sugar just as bad for me as the other?? I'm confused. Also, I've been told that if a label shows OVER 12 grams of sugar per serving, I should avoid it All together. ????

Thanks for you input and help.

  • "On-Line" jobs from home. Which way do I go?

I'm looking to find a job to earn extra money from my home. I know there are many jobs offered, "on-line", but I'm so leary of being taken advantage of. I'd really appreciate any feedback if you know of an on-line job that's truly reputable where you can see a profit. I'm not looking to "get rich", from this...just the little extra income would be nice:)

  • Is "Frontline Plus" available over the counter?

I went to my Veteranarian today and bought Frontline Plus for my 3 small dogs, when I normally buy HeartGuard. I was SHOCKED at the price. For 3 applications, it cost me $50.00, which will cover only one month. I was reading on a website, that Frontline Plus was available over the counter. If that's true, does anyone know of a store/stores that may carry it so that I can go(in person) and buy it, rather than over the internet?

  • Do you know of any "low light" house plants?

I'm searching for a house plant(prefereably small tree), that requires virtually no direct light at all. There's a section in my house(the very center) that I'd love to place a small tree of some sort, but this section does not get any direct sunlight. Actually, the only light it would get would be when the over head light in the ceiling is on. I do NOT like artificial. I prefer real/live plants. Any suggestions?

  • Can I use orange or lemon juice(fresh) instead of water when baking cakes/cupcakes?

OK...so, It's like this...I am NOT a baker. I love too cook, but I've never enjoyed baking. For some strange reason, I'm wanting to experiment with it now. My ? is this.....I've been baking cupcakes recently, some from scratch, some from a box. I LOVE fresh oranges and lemons. Can I substitute the juice from these fruits instead of water in a recipe when baking orange or lemon cupcakes? Like if it calls for 1 cup water....can I use 1 cup juice? I'd like to know if anyone else has done this before I gamble and mess up. I've asked a few people, but they, like me, really don't know. So, I thought I'd ask the smart people from Yahoo Answers....you guys have NEVER failed me:)

    Thanks a bunch:)

  • This is for all the American Idol fans. Will you please help me?

I have seen one of the A.I. contestants before on another show. I can't remember what kind of show it was. Not sure if it was a talent show for kids or something. I can't remember if he sang or danced??? I so vividly remember his face, his smile, his sweet personaility. I remember seeing his mother on the show with him, too. Does anyone know the 17 year old, David Archuleta? I can usually figure things out if I think hard enough, but this has me completely baffled! Please help me before I go insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Are there any Jalapeno Pepper lovers out there??

I love making homemade pepper sauces with the beautiful, HOT peppers that I grow in my garden each year. One of my favorites are the Jalapeno peppers. I take the peppers and slice them, put them in wide-mouth jars, add vinegar, and after a month or so we enjoy eating not only the juice, but the pepper itself. YUM YUM

    Here's my problem.....

A few years ago after I'd let the peppers set for a few months, I opened a jar and the peppers were still nice and crunchy. BUT, for the last 2 years, when I'm canning my veggies, I do the exact same thing with my peppers, but they turn out very mushy! There's NO crunch what so ever to them. Is there an ingredient out there that anyone knows of that I can add to my vinegar & peppers to keep them nice and crisp?

  • Are there any Rachael Ray fans out there?

I'm a big Rachael Ray fan. I love all her shows and her magazine. My question is this. A couple of months ago, I remember someone saying that she and her husband were having trouble. What has me concerned is this........a couple of times this week, while watching her talk show, I noticed that she wasn't wearing her wedding rings, which is very unusual. Does anyone know anything about this? Is Rachael and her cutie husband's marriage in trouble? I'm just curious!

  • Did I make a mistake when I planted my "sweet olive" tree??

I recently bought a "sweet olive" tree inside the Walmart Nursery here in my home town. My mother-in-law has one planted in her front yard, and the smell is absolutely wonderful!!! It's the sweetest scent I've ever smelt. I knew if I ever found one, I'd buy it.

Well, this morning I picked up my shovel and here I go...dig, dig, dig. I dug the hole at least 2 to 3 X's larger than the root bowl, and planted it. Well, after my bath, I found the instructions on planting the darn thing. It says to plant the "top" of the root bowl, level with the ground. That's where I might have a problem, because I planted the top of the root bowl at least 3 to 4" below ground level.....did I screw up???? Will this kill my tree? Do I need to dig it up and start over, or will it be OK?

  • Are there any FREE/SAFE jigsaw puzzle downloads on the internet?

My husband and I absolutely love sitting together and working on jigsaw puzzles. We can sit for hours doing this. It's so much fun to see who will have that "one last piece":)

Now, with that said. Does anyone know of any "SAFE", jigsaw puzzles downloads that I can install on our computer? If they are "free" that would be even better:) Free or not, please let me know of any that you might recommend.

    Thanks:)

  • Should Principals/Teachers be allowed to use corporal punishment in schools?

I've worked in and around the School system for many years. What bothers me is the fact that students are allowed to do pretty much whatever they want these days. There seems to be NO discipline what so ever. Principals and Teachers are NOT allowed to use what we called the "dreaded paddle"(that looked like a boat paddle!) to punish children these days when they misbehave. I've seen students, cuss, kick, spit, be sooo disrespectful to the staff and nothing can be done about it. Sure, you can expel, but you damn sure can't send them to the Principals office for a "good ole butt whoopin" anymore. I'm from the "old school" and back when I was in school, if you misbehaved, you had to stand up in front of the class, bend over while your teacher gave you a couple of HARD licks on your bottom, THEN you took the chance of going to the Principals office for MORE. There were consequences for bad behavior back then.

Do you agree/disagree that we need C/P back in the system?

  • Are there any substitutions for "Bulgar Wheat?"?

There's a recipe I'm wanting to try that calls for a very small amount of Bulgar Wheat. We have 5 large grocery stores & a Super Walmart in my town, but neither of them carry it. Is there anything else I could use as a substitution and get the same taste?
