  • What should I serve when entertaining?

My grandparents are coming into town next week, they only have one evening in my area so I offered to make dinner. WTF was I thinking, because I can BARELY cook.... I know, it's horrible. But I need some suggestions on what to make. No smart asses please, don't care for stupid people. I really want to make them a great meal as I only see them ever few years and this is a great chance for them to get to know my son.

    Thanks for your help guys.

  • Any bored SAHM's in Seattle?

I recently quit my office management job to stay at home with my 4 year old son. However, found myself stir crazy looking for ANYTHING to occupy my time!!

What I did was start an at home business with PartyLite candles. I did it when my son was a baby and had so much fun with good income I've decided to do it again.

I'm posting this because if you live in the Seattle area and are interested in finding an almost no work required income you can email for information on starting your own business.

Or if you even want to hold a show to get free stuff, that's always fun too!

Also, if anyone has any stories about their home businesses or tips I'd greatly appreciate the feedback. I'm 10 weeks pregnant, and would like to get a nice big jumpstart with this before the new one arrives.

I'm posting this in the parenting section because I want answers from experienced parents, and to help parents that want to quit their day job. Thanks!

  • 7 1/2 weeks and spotting/2nd pregnancy more sickness?!?

I'm 7 1/2 weeks pregnant.... About a week ago, I noticed some old blood (brownish color) come out when wiping. I figured it was old from implantation or something. Well last night, I wiped and it was pretty pink. I am concerned as this never happened with my first pregnancy and have read it's a beginning stage of miscarriage. I know not to stress, but haven't been able to get a hold of my mom (family md) and thought I'd turn to you wonderful Y!A folk for help!

Also, while I'm puttin points out for this, I never had complications with my first pregnancy. Well, one kidney stone that passed but.... Could there be any specific reason this one is so different? I'm already showing my weight gain of 14 lbs. And have had HORRIBLE morning sickness to the point I can hardly eat. Anybody else experience such differences through multiple pregnancies?

    Thanks all!

  • Just learned I'm pregnant, boyfriends mom thinks I am 'unstable'. How should I feel about her comments?

I'm about 4 weeks pregnant I learned on Sunday. To me this is great. My boyfriend and I are so happy and excited. My son from a previous relationship is 4, and it seems like perfect timing for us.

Yesterday, we decided to call all of our parents on speaker and tell them the good news. My parents took it well, my dad and mom have total 11 grandkids so this is nothing new to them. His father was very quiet, as if it weren't really a big deal. But his mother.... and I'm really frustrated with this... wouldn't talk about how she felt about it until she heard both of us state our opinions, and following she said "Well, it's your lives, nobody can tell you how to live them." Unsettling, but that isn't where she ended with it. This morning, my boyfriend spoke to her again, and she explained that she is worried we aren't "Stable enough in the relationship. And if things don't work out, the child will be left with split parents. She's done that before yes?" Am I wrong in feeling offended?

  • How can I help my 4 yr old adjust to our new life with my current boyfriend?

My son is 4 years old, and we recently moved in with my boyfriend. He absolutely loves my boyfriend, but feels like he's another kid, and it is ok for him to jump around and play at all times. He is also getting used to sleeping in his own room, so he's going through quite a transition. Any advice is helpful, and definitely appreciated.
