Will my BA Hons in Childhood Studies put me in as an unqualified Nursery Nurse?
I am currently seeking employment as a Nursery Nursery after completing 3 years at university and gaining a BA Hons in Childhood Studies. However, my prospective employer is concerned that although this would put me in at a Level 6 without a defined practical element I'd be considered unqualified which would affect my salary and mean I'd have to complete a further 6 months study in order to be considered qualified.
We both agree this is a real shame and I have explained that during my studies I did spend the odd day here and there in a Nursery setting in order to help me complete my essays. She says she has to go back to recruitment to see how my qualifications translate against their criteria.
Can anybody shed some light on this and maybe let me know if they think I will end up going in as unqualified as it seems a little unfair when in reality I'd be more qualified than many of the staff working there.
Thanks
