Am I wrong to be upset about this?
My work hours are 8:00-5:00 and I'm usually in the office by about 7:15. One of the girls in my office has official hours of 8:30-5:30 and generally gets in around 9:15. Most days, she'll hang out and talk for about half an hour before going to her desk, much less turning on her computer and starting work. We get an hour for lunch and while I make sure I'm back witha couple minutes to spare, she takes an extra 10 muinutes or so at least a couple times a week. The worst part is that she's constantly complaining about how much work she has and how she's alawys back-logged and doesn't have time to get everything done. And even though I leave at 5:00 I've started calling the office to see if she stays late to make up the time (she answers the phone while I'm at lunch and after I've left for the day) and every time it goes straight to voicemail.
Am I wrong to be upset about this? Having to listen to her complaints about having too much work even though she can't manage to show up on time, takes long lunches, spends tons of time socializing, and has refused my offers of help?
2 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agoALL Leukemia Treatment - Phase 4 - destruction of the bone marrow?
My boyfriend's son just started phase 3 of treatment for ALL Leukemia which involves purposely suppressing his immune system. Phase 4, which we should be starting in about 60 days, will involve destroying his bone marrow so that new (hopefulyl healthy) marrow can grow back. I've been trying to find information about this process - what happens, side effects, etc. - but everything keeps coming back to bone marrow trasplants, which he doesn't need as long as he stays in remission.
Has anyone else been through this and/or know where I can find more information about it? All we've been told is that Phase 4 is going to be really bad.
4 AnswersCancer1 decade agoWhat can companies take into consideration when hiring?
I recently applied for a job and was turned down. I will be moving to within 20 miles of the office in the next 6 months but because past employees have been unable to show up for work on time my application was rejected out right because I am currently about 30 miles away.
The company has had problems with past employees not showing up on time so they are assuming that EVERY employee and potential employee will have the same problem. Should I contact them once I've moved within their 20 mile required radius or is it better to assume that their practice of making assumptions based on previous employees will continue beyond just the ability to be on time for work?
Is distance even something they can (legally) ask you about? I'm not saying they should consider someone 3,000 miles away but in Southern California a commute of 30 to 40 miles is pretty much standard these days.
3 AnswersCorporations1 decade agoan observation. agree? or am i wrong?
Has anyone else noticed that there seem to be a lot of questions on here that are written in complete gibberish? Or that involve the annoyingly overdone use of slang terms that only make sense in spoken conversation? It just seems that for all of the (mostly) intelligent answers people provide, they can't form a simply question. Does this bother anyone else? Or I being overly sensitive and uppity about it?
4 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoAnyone else in tha LA area having this problem?
Since the beginning of the year, my boyfriend has been trying to find a job...ANY job. For the last 7 months, we've been living off my meager income and for most of that time he wasn't even able to get interviews anywhere. He's still getting a response from less than 1% of the resumes he sends out. He's been applying for everything we can find, from jobs he's not qualified for to jobs that would be a perfect match for his experience and qualifications to might stocking jobs at Target and FedEx. He can't get anything.
I was just curious whether other people in the Greater Los Angeles / Orange County / Inland Empire area are experiencing a similar problem or had any suggestions on where to go from here.
Thanks!!
1 AnswerOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agoLegitimate Part Time Work From Home Opportunites?
Does anyone know of a good place to look for these kinds of opportunities? I am looking for something to supplement my income that I can do at home in the evenings and on the weekends. I don't want anything where you have to buy a whole bunch of stuff up front since they tend to be "get rich quick" schemes. I'm also not really the Avon lady type.
Any suggestions of where to look would be greatly appreciated. I'm in the Los Angeles area if that helps.

Does anyone know anything about or have experience with Google AdSense? It's a Google product so of course I know it's legitimate but was just curious if anyone has any personal experience with it. Thanks!
3 AnswersGoogle1 decade agoParagard (copper) IUD and late/missed period?
I had the copper IUD inserted back on October '07. My periods have been regular ever since and the only side effect has been that they're now about 2 days longer than before I got the IUD. I was supposed to start my period a few days ago but only had about 36 hours of light spotting. I know that with Mirena may women experience lighter, fewer, and/or no periods once their body adjusts to the hormones, but has anyone experienced this with the COPPER IUD?
4 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoQuestion about shaving.?
My boyfriend keeps asking me to shave and so far I haven't been willing to. First, it just seems like it would be too much work. Second, I'm scared that I'll have the same problem as when I shave my legs. When I shave my legs (or underarms) it lasts about 24 hours and then feels like I haven't shaved in a week. Plus, because the hairs are so thick I get ingrown hairs and red bumps all the time. Any suggestions for avoiding this or alternatives to shaving pubs?
5 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoQuestion about child support?
A friend of mine recently found out his divorce was rejected because his ex-wife screwed up when she filled out the form requesting child support. She keeps saying she isn't requesting child support because they agreed to keep that part out of the divorce. The question I have is this...If she filed a request for support separate from the divorce papers shouldn't my friend have been served a copy?
9 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoPMS and being moody?
I've never really had serious PMS symptoms. Every so often I'll get really bad cramps and be sick to my stomach the first day of my period, but not every month and only if I'm under a lot of stress. But I've never been the type to get moody and become at total b**** and emotional basket case. Except that for the past 3 or 4 months my boyfriend has started asking me if I'm about to start ever time we get in a fight. And he's always right. Has anyone else has PMS symptoms change over time, or have I always been this way but either no one has noticed or no one bothered to say anything until now?
5 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoAm I wrong to be a little upset about this?
Every so often I ask my boyfriend if we can just stay home that night and he always promises me we can. Then he decides he had a bad day and wants go out for a drink. Or he worked at least 2 hours of over time that day so he announces we're going out to dinner. Because of his work schedule he's usually home by 2 or 3 in the afternoon so every time I mention I'm going to do laundry he says not to bother, promises to do it when he gets home the next day, and then ends up either taking a nap or messing around on the computer and loosing track of time. There's other house stuff he always promises he's wants to get done and I always end up doing it myself. Which is if, I just wish he'd stop promising things he has no intention of making an effort to follow through on.
It would be one thing if this stuff only happened every so often, but it's constant. It isn't even a more often than not thing. It's always. As in every time. It's aggravating. Am I over reacting to this?
10 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agohe sometimes calls me by his ex-wife's name?
It doesn't happen very often but every once in a while my boyfriend calls me his ex-wife's name. He always catches himself and swears it's just habit. If we're doing something with the kids that used to always be a family thing; if we start fighting and he gets frustrated; if he's really tired but still trying to take care of me and the boys and make sure we're happy...He swears it's habit and doesn't mean anything. It's just habit and one he really wants to break. But sometimes I wonder if that's really all it is. The divorce is pretty recent so it's not like we're talking about a relationship that was over years ago. It's not like it happens when we're in bed together or anything, and the rest of the time I'd say he does it an average of once every 3 to 4 weeks so it's doesn't really mean anything right?
It's habit. He's comfortable with me "replacing" her at family stuff and is used to fighting with her and not me. Right?
22 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoAfter someone files for divorce, how long does it take before the initial hearing?
My friend's soon to be ex filed for divorce and he was served the divorce papers toward the end of August. He didn't contest anything but we're wondering how long it will take before the initial hearing.
Also, when is a divorce final in California? Is it 6 months after he was served the papers or 6 months after the hearing?
11 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoCan my boyfriend's ex-wife use my income against him?
My boyfriend's divorce isn't quite final yet, legally speaking. Until we moved in together, he was barely able to cover all his bills, much less the money he owes his ex for child support every month. The company he works for is entering their slow season and he's struggling to pull 40 hours a week. He told his ex he would pay as much as he could for December, but that he might not be able to come up with the full amount he owes her. She said that because I live with him she can come after me for the difference. It would be one thing if we were already married, but we're not. We don't even have a joint bank account. Is she right that I can be held responsible for my boyfriend's child support payments just because we live together?
24 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoCan you file for back child support before the initial court date?
A friend of mine is currently going through a divorce. He heard from a mutual friend that his soon to be ex -wife is claiming he owes her 4 months of back child support. The problem is that she filed the initial divorce papers in July and they haven't gone before a judge yet much less had an order for child support entered. I was under the impression that neither party owes the other money - child support, alimony, etc - until at least the initial court date. Supposedly, she even knows how much he owes her. Is she right, or just trying to scare him?
Married and divorcing in California, if that helps.
5 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoWhy do so many women think ovulation determines whether or not they can get pregnant?
I've seen a lot of questions asking "am I pregnant" or "how could I have gotten pregnant" or some other variation. In most of the questions, the woman talks about when she does or should ovulate and it seems like a lot of them believe that ovulation determines pregnancy. Forgive me if I sound a little naive here but I always thought sex determined pregnancy. I understand that a woman's fertility fluctuates throughout her monthly cycle and that there are points at which it is more or less likely that she'll conceive. It just seems like somewhere along the way ovulation became the determining factor. Personally, I have no clue when I ovulate. But I've seen so many questions from women that say "Here's when I ovulated and this is when we had sex so how could I possibly have gotten pregnant."
Am I missing something? Because I was under the impression that it's possible to get pregnant at any point during your menstrual cycle. Regardless of when you ovulate.
