Why is there a lack of respect for backwoods culture?
I have noticed that there is a great amount of disrespect toward people who live in really small, poverty stricken towns. This makes absolitely no sense to me. Perhaps it is because I am from one of these "backwoods" towns in southern West Virginia, and I assure everyone that it is nothing like what you see on T.V. Not everyone in these areas have a lot of money or education, but neither do people in big cities, and inbreeding is no more common in rural West Virginia or any other isolated town than it is in anyone else's hometown. People in small, off the grid towns are some of the most real people I have ever met. I have been to NYC, Atlanta, Chicago, and several other moderate sized cities and I found nothing but intolerance and ridicule. It could have been because of the fact that I wear a beard, overalls, and boots, but regardless, it goes to show that nobody respects people with a clashing culture. Keep in mind though that I realize my culture is not the only group who is ridiculed and discriminated; I am just trying to hit on one point here. Now, granted, if someone were to show up in my hometown who is from somewhere else they would not be received very warmly at first, but once you show the natives respect you will get it in return. This is a very different senario from when one of us goes out of town. So my rant is over now, but I would like some feedbackas to why people are so stuck on the stereotypes they see on T.V. or the internet.
2 AnswersSociology8 years agoHow can I get a loud exhaust?
I have a 1987 Dodge Dakota with the 3.9L V6 that I have spent the past couple years restoring, and I have it most of the way done, but I want to be able to hear the exhaust. I have a Flowmaster 40 series and a Flowmaster catalytic converter (2.5" pipe), but it is still almost silent and I don't understand why.
3 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation8 years agoBest choice for off road toy?
I am looking to build a truck to have as an off road toy. I am mostly into hill climbing and mud bogging, and I don't care if the truck is fast. I just want something strong enough to take the abuse and cheap enough that I'll be able to afford and find the parts to fix it if it breaks. What would be the best choice of truck that will suit my wants and have good aftermarket support?
2 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation8 years agoHow do I determine the gear ratio in a 1987 Dodge Dakota 4x4?
I have a 1987 Dodge Dakota 4x4 with the 3 speed automatic transmission. I want to know the gear ratio in the rear end but I don't know how to find it....
3 AnswersDodge8 years agoIs this truck worth the money?
I am looking to buy a 1987 Ford F-250, but I don't know much about diesels so I don't want to get burned on the deal. The truck will be a work truck/toy more often than a daily driver. (I have another truck for that)
This is the listing:
1987 f250 4x4 6.9 IDI diesel truck with the hard to beat 4 speed manual trans truck has 313700 on body I recently replaced the engine with another 6.9 with lower miles. Has mickey Thompson beadlocker wheels.
It has new valve cover gaskets 30$
New clutch 580$
New glowplugs 60$
All new belts 30$
New power steering pump 65$
New power steering lines 20$
Fresh oil and fuel filter change 150$
Used engine 800$
New radiator 450$
$4000 OBO or trade for another diesel 4x4

2 AnswersFord8 years agoDually vs Single wheel for truck pull, hill climb, and mud bog?
I am wanting to build a truck that is good (not necessarily the best) at all 3 things, but I am unfamiliar with a dually's performance off pavement. This truck will be a toy, and I LOVE the look of dually trucks, but I do not want to lose performance because of looks.
2 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation8 years agogas vs diesel trucks?
I'm specifically asking about a Chevrolet 6.5 and a ford 7.3 vs a 454 and 460 (respectively). I'm wondering about power and mpg for the most part. (I am looking at 1 ton DRW trucks, and it will be used as a skidder, daily driver, and mountain rider) if that makes any difference
