  • Would it be worth learning to speak Hindi if I travel to Chennai?

The reason I ask is, I know the official language is Tamil, but teaching resources are more widely available with Hindi, is it widely spoken in Tamil-Nadu, or would I have just as much luck communicating in English?

  • BNP accuses Nigel Farage of expenses exploitation - is it true?

Ok, firstly, I am not a UKIP or BNP supporter, I am a student trying to work out my political views. However, I was troving through the BNP website, trying to see if they claim to be Nazi anti-semitic, fascists that everyone seems to make them out to be.

When looking at one of their news posts, it claims that Nigel Farage had announced a 'deathknell' for UKIP by announcing that he had taken around 2 million pounds in expenses. After further research I found that the BNP were very hush-hush about how it was over a period of ten years. They also have no stone-cold evidence that Farage says this, all that is on their website is a recording of Mr. McShane from BBC 2's Politics saying that Farage had said this. The BNP also omit what Farage claimed these expenses on, if he even did claim expenses of this magnitude at all. Were these justifiable expense claims? Unlike the cleaning of a moat or paying for a new chandelier of course. I was wondering if anyone had any information iregarding what Farage had claimed these expenses on? Or is this just BNP propaganda? Thanks

  • Can I take legal action?

Right, so I was in this corner shop about a month ago before heading into school, in the UK, and the shop assistant came up to me and my friend and told us we were banned from their shop because we had been seen shoplifting. I have never done anything like that so I was pretty pissed off at being accused of that. She refused to give me any information or produce any evidence and told me to come back later to speak to the manager.

Once I'd come back and spoke with the manager, it turns out they had no video evidence of me stealing anything (no surprise for me) and all it was was simply me and my friend standing by the sweets talking for a while, before choosing something, paying for it and leaving. He told me the ban was lifted and that I was welcome to come in again, provided I didn't stand too near the shelves.

The school I go to (which is right next to this shop) got wind of this incident, and I got interrogated and had to produce testimonies about what had happened and I could have potentially been suspended or expelled.

My friend said because they had accused me and had absolutely no evidence, I could report them for defamation or villifiation, is this possible?

I live in the UK, so am obviously under British law.
