I am a 49-year-old mother of 3 and grandmother of 3! My husband and I own an appliance store in Seattle, and I own a home based business.
Changing a child's legal last name?
My daughter gave her son our family's last name when he was born in Dec 09. The "father" has actually made something of an effort to be in the boy's life. Now my daughter is married, and expecting another child. Can she change her son's last name to her new married name without permission from the father? He refuses to allow the new husband to adopt the boy. There has never been an official paternity test, and the birth certificate says "unknown" in the father spot although my daughter provided the father's name to the hospital.
5 AnswersOther - Pregnancy & Parenting1 decade agoAre you still waiting for a promised grant from Grant Financial Network?
Have you been suckered by Grant Financial Network (GFN)?
It's been almost two years now, since they've had our money. I have been contacted by several people. I'd like to get a group to all complain to the BBB and other agencies together. I know that at least one other person lost more than $100,000. There is strength in numbers. Thank you for replying!

2 AnswersOther - Business & Finance1 decade agoAny thoughts on custody? ?
The baby is due Dec 28, and "daddy" aka sperm donor, has opted to not be involved in the rest of the pregnancy, or the birth. With his attitude, we'd like to just let the entire family know "thanks, but no thanks" regarding any involvement at all. I'm meeting with the other grandmother tomorrow. Oh, yeah, this is my daughter's baby. Any thoughts? We're wondering if that set of grandparents will automatically have legal rights which could be exercised later... and I realize a lawyer is in the future somewhere, but now? Anyone with experience in this, I'd love to hear from you.
2 AnswersOther - Pregnancy & Parenting1 decade agoAnyone out there still waiting to hear from Grant Financial Network?
I posted a question over a year ago, and it sparked quite the lengthy debate. I am wondering if anyone got any results (aka money) from this company? I gave them $2500 in March of 2007. Yesterday I called all of the listed phone numbers for the company, and all are "no longer in service". I reached the voice mail of the owner of the company on his cell. I have a feeling it's just a matter of time before he cancels that cell... I would like to know if there are any other small business owners who have paid between $2500 - $10,000 to this company. There is another victim who has already filed with the BBB and is looking at taking legal action. Please IM or email me, or reply on this forum. The company is known under other names as well, which I'm finding as I do research. 'Grants Center' is one.
2 AnswersOther - Business & Finance1 decade agoCan you think of a clever title?
Hello all. I am covering phone calls for a business partner of mine while he's out of the country. I'm not a secretary, and we're all in business for ourselves basically. I am looking for a clever title to call myself when I am asked what is my function on the team. People call his number, and get a recording telling them that if the question is urgent, they may call me on my cell. So - come up with a title more interesting than "team assistant". :-) Thanks in advance!!!
4 AnswersOther - Business & Finance1 decade agoHas anyone heard of Dan Unsworth, and Video for Profit?
Pipeline Media, My Live Person, Video For Profit. Dan Unsworth. Any other business people fallen victim to the bait and switch tactics? I "only" lost about $1000, but I've heard of people losing much, much more. Just curious if anyone else has had experience with this clever but deceptive man. You'll soon be seeing lots of postings, I'm sure, regarding the elaborate sham he just pulled over on about 150 people in my company. I asked him how he is able to SLEEP at night! It is just amazing. He promises a high-tech video lead capture system for your business, and delivers... a big wad of nothing. It all looks so great, so innovative, so attractive. You can go to www.videoforprofit.com to see his advertising system. I'd love to hear from others who have been victimized. Of course, I'm getting familiar with being victimized! NO MORE! I've learned my lesson!!!
1 AnswerOther - Advertising & Marketing1 decade agoA whine, more than a question. WHY do people plug your website address into a 'Google' or 'Yahoo' search?
It totally confuses me. If you have the website address, the URL, WHY would you search for it in a search engine??? I have had three people look for my business and get on a search engine and find my MySpace page. It's frustrating.
2 AnswersGoogle1 decade agoHas anyone heard of 'Grant Financial Network, Inc'?
This grant writing company solicited us, and I fell for their tactics. Now we're out $2500, with a promise of a grant for $100,000 at which time we pay an additional $2500. It's been since March that they've had our money. It's too late to tell me I'm naive; I realize that already! But they sounded legit, and even the accounting firm we are currently using said "Oh yeah, we see small businesses get grants all the time." I'm specifically interested in knowing if anyone else has had any experience with 'Grant Financial Network, Inc'. Thanks!
3 AnswersCorporations1 decade agoWhat alternatives are there to aluminum foil?
We haven't used aluminum cookware for years. I have now thrown away all anti-perspirants, too. Aluminum is implicated as a cause of many diseases, including dementia. But why is aluminum foil still in use, even on the barbeque grill??? Is there an alternative?
