  • Kabocha Squash nutritional data?

I was wonder what the nutritional information was for kabocha squash, a type of winter squash.

I can't seem to find any reliable or accurate information regarding precise caloric values and vitamin content for specifically kabocha.

I found sites with nutritional data for winter squash in general, but butternut and acorn squash are also types of winter squash, and they have different nutritional content. I tried MyFitnessPal, Sparkpeople, Livestrong, and they seem to have different values, ranging from 30-200 calories per cup, and different contents of Vitamins A and C & minerals.

I know it's an odd question, but I kabocha has been a staple food for me for a few months now - it's very sweet and filling - and i'd like to know what's in whatever I'm eating.

    Thank you!

  • Small business owner sued by employee who was once an illegal immigrant?

My mother owns a small business (a hardware store) with two employees - one man who's been working there for 11+ years now, and another new one who she recently hired.

The business was handed down to my mom 10 years ago by a family friend who had to move out of state. The first employee has been at the store longer than my mother has. He was an illegal immigrant, but the previous owners took pity on him and allowed him to work at the store. My mom allowed him to keep his job at the store even after ownership was given to her.

My mom paid him an average salary for a retail worker of $9-$10/hr, gave bonuses on good days, often bought him lunch, and took good care of him.

Lately, we found out that he became legalized through marriage, and ever since then, he's become increasingly laid back - taking random breaks and coming back whenever he wished, spending all his time at the back of the store lounging around, etc.

Today he walked up to my mom, gave her a sheet of paper with a list of complaints, told her he'd see her in court, and left. The complaints consisted of working in a badly ventilated environment, working overtime, "being treated like a slave," no health insurance, and a few others.

My mom was shocked. She's been working at the same store environment for over 10 years now, and my dad has always told them to leave the back and front doors open for ventilation. The employee is the one who always closes it in the winter, saying that he's cold. In the summer, we have all doors open and several fans indoors. He worked 9-10 hrs on days he was available, which was usually 5 or 6 days a week, which indeed is overtime, but he needed the money, and he had never complained before. If he ever had a reason not to be at work (family matters, etc), my mother would always let him go.

The employee was the one who was in tears (a couple of years ago) thanking my mother and father for treating him like family all the time. And now he's saying he's being treated like a slave. No one's forcing him to work and he's being paid for his work.

    slave (sleɪv) — n

    1. a person legally owned by another and having no freedom of action or right to property

    2. a person who is forced to work for another against his will

Regarding health insurance, I read that small businesses are not required to provide health insurance for its workers. The employee already has his own family insurance. My mother and father and I don't have any insurance - we can't afford it.

The fine for hiring an illegal immigrant is $250-$2000. However, my mom never "hired" him. He just continued working when the store was given to her.

Employers who willfully or repeatedly violate the minimum wage or overtime pay requirements are subject to civil money penalties of up to $1,100 per violation.

If my mother does go to court for such a case, what's the best we could do to prepare?

What's the worst possible scenario and what's the best?

  • Stained boyfriend's sheets. What kind should I buy him?

It was my second time doing it with him, and I guess I didn't quite fully "break" the first time.

We were on his bed, and afterward, when we were just lying there resting, he noticed stains on the sheets. I told him I was so sorry, and he said it was fine, but what guy would want to sleep on his girlfriend's blood? I heard it's hard to wash off too, and he's a bit lazy...

Point is, I bled on his sheets, and I want to get him new ones. I want to get him the best quality sheets I can (that I can afford as a college student), so I did some research.

Egyptian cotton or Microfiber sheets seem to be the best texture,

but color-wise, I'm not too sure...

He said he likes blue or purple, but i'm not sure which shade (light/dark) I should get.

I'm planning on..er.. participating in a lot of night-time activities with him in the future, and I thought I should take that into consideration. I really like navy/dark blue, but not sure if that would be good for hiding any..er..residue.

    Opinions please?

  • Genetics - White coat in tigers. Pedigree help?

The ancestry of a white female tiger bred in a city zoo is depicted in the pedigree following part (e) of this problem. White tigers are indicated with unshaded symbols. (As you can see, there was considerable inbreeding in this lineage. For example, the white tiger Mohan was mated with his daughter.) In answering the following questions, assume that “white” is determined by allelic differences at a single gene and that the trait is fully penetrant. Explain your answers by citing the relevant information in the pedigree.

Could white coat color be caused by a Y-linked allele?

Could white coat color be caused by a dominant X-linked allele?

Could white coat color be caused by a dominant autosomal allele?

Could white coat color be caused by a recessive X-linked allele?

Could white coat color be caused by a recessive autosomal allele?

Sorry! I can't find a picture of it to put here, but it's from Genes to Genomes by Hartwell. (Chapter 4)

  • I'm misplaced my W-2 form for a short part time summer job, and I need it to file my FAFSA Verification.?

I only earned ~$350 in a span of a month or two and I know I don't need to submit an income tax form.

I don't know where my W-2 form went.

My mom says I should just check off "The student was not employed and had no income earned from work in 2011." since I didn't really earn that much.

Would this get me in trouble with the IRS/FAFSA?

  • Suppose you have just added 200.0 ml of a solution. containing 0.5000 moles of acetic acid per liter to 100.0 ?

When I did the calculations I ended up having equal amounts of acetic acid and acetate anions so wouldn't the answer just be -log(1.77*10^-5) = 4.752

The answer says 4.754. Is there a minor detail I'm missing? I didn't estimate/ round anything in the problem

  • Got my period. Finally back to normal?

Last winter I dropped weight drastically from 140 lbs to 95lbs. I didn't have my period since I started losing. Today I got it for the fist time in 7 months and I'm at 94lbs. Does this mean my body has finally adjusted/is back to normal?
