  • Translate this to Croatian?

I'm working on a story, and I need an English to Croatian translation of this 'lullaby', used by one character as a sort of prayer. Thank you very much in advance!

May the night take your pain

And the sadness in your eyes

At the end of this life

    Close your eyes

And give your hands to me

    Dream no longer of war

Dream of silent fields and shining sun

Dream and we will be beside you

While the night bleeds across the sky

Sleep easy now, may your thoughts go to rest

    Think no more of fear

    Slip easy now into peace

    Close your eyes

And give your hands to me

  • Translation into Albanian?

One of my characters from my story often hums a lullaby under her breath, though she knows the full words and will occasionally sing it to a dying soldier to comfort them, especially if she's close to them, and I wanted to translate it into Albanian as best as possible. Online translators won't work for this. I understand it won't be literal. Thanks very much in advance for your time.

May the night take your pain

And the sadness in your eyes

At the end of this life

Close your eyes and give your hands to me

Dream the most beautiful dreams of this world

Dream of silent fields and shining sun

Dream and I will be beside you

While the night bleeds across the sky

Sleep easy now, may your thoughts go to rest

    Think no more of fear

    Slip easy now into peace

Close your eyes and give your hands to me

  • Violent characters in Fiction?

I'm curious as to how you would view an intensely violent character, one who is brutal and savage and generally unfeeling/uncaring about the suffering and harm caused to others they see as opposition, but is still in some ways sympathetic. My own character from my military sf, for instance, displays almost psychopathic tendencies towards cruelty and often extreme violence and uncontrollable rage, but as the narrative goes on he becomes increasingly unable to cope with the psychological trauma of near-constant warfare, terror, and vivid, horrifying hallucinations that plague him, as well as intensifying paranoia, derealization, and constant fear. He becomes irrational and falls into a downward spiral and a vicious cycle: he deals with his own trauma through more and more openly suicidal actions on the battlefield and disturbing violence towards the opposition.

My question is, how would you view a character of this sort? Would you feel sympathy for them?

BQ1: Do you know of any characters like this who are presented as the protagonist?

    BQ2: Any suggestions?

  • How does the abdominal artery (vena cava, correct?) react to injury?

Basically, if the abdominal artery is nicked, not severed, mind you, but torn, how will the body react? I want the depiction of injury to be as authentic as possible.

  • (I come again) Question about hypovolemic shock?

Yet again, I am writing something and must try to accurately portray a medical issue. This time, a character of mine (sure make them suffer) has gone into hypovolemic shock. I want to know some unusual symptoms that may present as a result of shock, symptoms that may not often be seen. Thanks, and please, no websites unless they specifically relate to said question.

  • (for a story) What should be done if a person's lung collapses?

Basically, the character has sustained a severe chest wound, and blood is leaking into the chest cavity. His lung collapses, but his companion has medical tools on hand. I know a tube should be inserted, but how is this done?

  • A character has asphyxiated after hanging himself, but his heart is still beating?

In the opening chapter of a manuscript I am writing, the main character is trying to revive her friend, who has attempted to commit suicide. He is no longer breathing, and his heart is about to enter into ventricular fibrillation. Will CPR revive him?

  • Sometimes I can feel my heart fluttering. What does this mean?

When I am lying still, my heart will sometimes "flutter". I can actually feel this sensation in my chest and neck, and when I feel my pulse. What does this mean?
