  • Who uses crates for other things?

I know people use crates for potty training, but do some use it for the duration of the dogs life? Are their dogs in it every time they leave the house? or do you actually train the dogs to live in the house peacefuly? because the whole thing has always sounded like kinda a cop-out so I wanted to get a better idea from those who do it.

  • Would you tattoo your dog? ?

What do you all think about tattooing dogs as a way of owner identification? Good bad effective or not? where is the best place, the ear under the leg? does the vet do it or you have to go somewhere special?

  • Im asking this again for more opinions: "Knuckling over"?

Has anyone had any experiences with "knuckling over"?

I have been reading more about about the condition, and find it amazing that some claim that it can be righted with simply a nutrition change. Has anyone actually had experiences.

The last time i asked I only got two answers and they were different, one said "neurological symptom, typically from damaged nerves in the affected limb" and the other said nutrition problems.

So does anyone have any experience, or know which if either is right?

  • Are elk and deer sheds ok to give as chew toys to dogs?

I find elk and deer sheds alot at work and have brought home few, well my Great Dane is always very keen on getting to them, Ive had to keep them in a closed off room, and I was wondering if anyone here has ever given them as chew toys? or do they splinter?

I find them when I'm out in the woods during work. I have thought about selling them- The best ones I have are a matched pair of 4pt deer (west coast measure ments 4pts plus eye gards) and a nice 6pt plus eye elk, found all on the clock!

I really want to teach my puppies to help me find them.

No preserves all natural found in the woods. do people put preserves on them? I can see it if your mounting them I guess, I never thought of it.

  • Is this an old-wive's tale?

A co-worker once told me that after doing something physical like hiking or walking or just plain exercising, if you feel your tummy and its cold to the touch your burning more calories than if its not cold...

I told her it sounded like a tall tale, but has anyone else heard anything like this? I don't know if anyone has done any comparisons between the two, or if there is any correlation at all.

  • how do you keep bread from crumbling? it is too dry?

i recently tried a new recipe for banana bread and it has a very good flavor but its so dry and crumbly, what kind of liquid can i add, or does it matter? the only real amount of liquid it called for was yogurt, rum and butter-can i just try adding a little more of one of these?

  • my dog has a swelling inbetween her toes two vets say two different things... anyone been through this before?

I have a Great Dane who has a red swelling bump between two back toes, and its bothering her to the point where she spends hours licking it and im afraid of her bitting it to the point of damaging the paw.

My vet said it was a ripped tendon and to give her benadryl, but it wasnt doing much help so i took her to another vet who said (and i think hes right) that a cheat grass seed was lodged in her skin and is causing an infection... now i think that sounds right and have a subsequent appt to open it up and do something...

but i was wondering if anyone else has delt with this kind of injury before?
