been bitten but also have an ear infection so should I got to the emergency room or the doctor?
Hi all so tonight's been pretty cruddy. I woke up today with a raging ear infection and planned to go to the doctor after work. Then whilst at work I got bitten by one of the kids I work with and because it broke the skin I should go to the emergency room for a tetunus shot as it's company policy. The only thing is I don't have time to do both so was just wondering wether I should go to the emergency room for the bite and ask about my ear infection whilst I'm there or visa versa with the doctor? Any one have an idea of which would be best?
1 AnswerHealth & Safety5 years agoCould taking time off for stress cause problems with finding a new job?
Hi all. So I work at a hospital for people with Autism and although it can be rewarding, it causes me a lot of anxiety because of how often I get hurt and threatened there (I think it's more the not knowing whether I'll get hurt than that I actually do) this has always bothered me a little but recently it's taken over my whole life, even on my days off and holidays I'm just worrying about going back to work and what will happen when I do. I've been looking for another job but there aren't many options where I live and 3 years later I haven't found anything! Now I'm always ill and tearful and I literally hate waking up in the morning.
I would just quit but after a year of being made to feel like a criminal whilst on JSA before I got my job I know that isn't an option.
I think taking some time off would help but have to give 12 weeks notice for annual leave and think I need a rest before then. So should I talk to a doctor about being signed off for stress? I know I wouldn't get paid but I really don't care about that right now. My only worry is that it would stay on my HR record and affect my chances of getting a new job. Does anyone know what the law is about being signed off? Could it affect my future career prospects?
1 AnswerOther - Careers & Employment5 years agoShould I leave my job or just take time off for stress?
Okay so I ve been working at my job for 3.5 years now and have HATED it since my first day. The individuals I look after are unpredictable and can be very aggressive and I ve always been really scared about getting hurt (I think it s the not knowing whether they re going to attack me or not is the scary part)
For a while I coped well and was getting really positive feedback from my bosses and workmates. But recently I ve been unwell which has caused me a lot of stress. I get so nervous about going to work now that it makes me physically ill and when it s my days off I m just constantly worrying about going back to work. I just can t cope with the idea of dealing with all this health crap and going to work at the moment but there aren t many job opportunities available in my hometown and I m not able to move so my options are limited.
I was thinking that maybe having some time off to recover a bit might help so I can deal with my anxiety and go back with a fresh outlook but am worried getting signed off work will negatively Impact my future career prospects, does anyone know whether it could cause problems in the future? What do you guys think I should do?
2 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment5 years agoAm I Asexual or just odd? What can I do?
Ok so I'm 24, female and I've never been interested in sex, I don't like talking about or hearing about it, I dont like seeing it on tv and the idea of anyone touching me inappropriately just makes my skin crawl. When I was younger, sex really grossed me out but I always just assumed that I would become more interested in it as I got older, but now I'm 24 and have never had sex or masturbated or felt any need/urge to do so. I develop attachments to certain people I know and celebrities of both genders where I think they're funny or good looking (not sexy) and they're usually a lot older than me, but I never have a desire to want to see them naked or feel jealous if they have romantic partners, it's more like I care about their happiness.
I just find it hard to see a future for myself if I cant/don't have a proper relationship. I don't want to be alone and childless but I can't bare the idea of having another person see me naked or touch me. And I can't imagine anyone wanting a relationship with someone who doesn't want sex. I Heard rom a lot of people that being Asexual just means you have mental health issues or a history of abuse etc. but other than depression I think I'm a level headed person.
So what do you think. Any ideas?
3 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender6 years agoDo you believe it's possible to have psychic abilities like seeing the future or feeling other's pain?
I'm just curious as to how many people really believe it's possible. I experience this sort of stuff all the time, since I was really young. and hadn't really given it much thought until now when I get déjà vue at least twice a day, get certain people, movies or particular episodes of a tv show stuck in my head only to encounter them within hours, and appear to feel the pain/ emotions/ illnesses of people around me on a regular basis. I think my family thinks I make it up but I really don't.
I'm not stupid or eccentric. Usually I'm very level headed but now I feel like this stuff happens too often to be a coincidence.
Any ideas as to what it might be, has anyone heard of this before?
6 AnswersParapsychology6 years agoFeels like there's a lump in my throat but I can breath fine, really uncomfortable!!!?
Hi all
So I've got this feeling in my throat like there's a lump or something, kind of like badly swollen tonsils (my tonsils are fine though). It really feels horrible, like im being strangled but I don't think by breathing's been affected. I can't relieve it though no matter what position I'm in and it feels horrible. I keep feeling like I'm going to choke at any moment and am constantly yawning. No problems swallowing either although it is uncomfortable when I do and I feel a little sick.
Any ideas what this might be? Should I be worried. I've had a lot of gallbladder issues lately so could it be related to that?
Please Help!!!
2 AnswersPain & Pain Management6 years agoCould me, my dog and my pregnant sister all have the same stomach virus? Should my sister go to A&E?
Hi all. So a few days ago me and my dog came down with the same symptoms of a stomach virus - water diarrhoea and vomiting - I thought we had food poisoning. My dog's 15 and has the occasional accident in the house especially when she's poorly. We've done our best to be hygienic - lots of detol and hand sanitizer. But today my sister who's currently 33 weeks pregnant came out with the exact same symptoms vomiting, watery diarrhoea and stomach cramps, she not really had a sickly pregnancy so we don't think it's just that. Online so far the only connection between dog and human illness is the norovirus which is supposed to be dangerous for pregnant women. Does anyone know is we should get her to a doctor urgently or can it wait until tomorrow morning when the gp surgery opens. Any help would really be
Appreciated. Thanks
1 AnswerInfectious Diseases6 years agoCan I ask for gallstone surgery even if my doctor doesn't think it's necessary?
Hi all, so I was confirmed as having gallstones in an ultrasound recently. Two 1cm stones near the duct opening. For the last 5 weeks I've been getting really bad pain and I haven't been able to eat hardly anything. I've dropped 2.5 stone in 2 weeks and have severe pain for hours after I eat anything even slightly fatty e.g. Last time it was a small handful of peanuts.
I spoke to my doc about the test results and he says that he's reluctant to refer me to a surgeon because it's not that bad and I wouldn't be able to have keyhole surgery because of another condition I have. But I seriously can't cope with this pain anymore and I've had to go on light duties at work because of it.
So would I be able to insist on the surgery due to the pain? I'm in or do I just have to hope it gets so bad I end up hospitalised and then get emergency treatment. What can I do? Please help if you have any ideas.
7 AnswersPain & Pain Management6 years agooff work for surgery - what benefit/money am I entitled to in the UK?
Hi all. So I've just been told that I'm going to need gallbladder surgery soon and that I can't get it done via keyhole surgery, so am going to need about 6-8 weeks recovery time including time to prepare for the opp. The only thing is my work doesn't pay sick pay and I seriously can't afford to go without any money for nearly 2 months, does anyone know if I am entitled to any benefit of similar? I've never had surgery or been off work for longer than about 3 days before so am unsure what I can do. Any ideas? Thanks
