Physics, gravitation/change in weight problem?
Suppose the earth were a non-rotating uniform sphere. On the surface a person weighs 900 N, how much will their weight decrease at the bottom of a 13 km mine shaft?

Consider this equation:
16 x^3 + 160 x^2 =125 y^2
point P: (10, 16)
point Q: (10, -16)
Find the implicit derivative:
Find the slope of the tangent line to the curve at the point P:
Find the slope of the tangent line to the curve at the point Q:
Is there a tangent line to the curve at the point (-10,0)?
Is there a tangent line to the curve at the point (0,0)?
3 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoPhysics momentum rope swing problem?
Tarzan is in the path of a pack of stampeding elephants when Jane swings in to the rescue on a rope vine, hauling him off to safety. The length of the vine is 24 m, and Jane starts her swing with the rope horizontal. If Jane's mass is 48 kg, and Tarzan's mass is 91 kg, to what height above the ground will the pair swing after she rescues him? (Assume the rope is vertical when she grabs him.)

(a) Find the speed v2 of the larger mass after the collision; also find the angle θ2. In terms of V0 when necessary.
1 AnswerPhysics1 decade agoPhysics, Spring compression, velocity at certain compression.?
A 2.7 kg block is dropped from rest from a height of 5.3 m above the top of a spring. When the block is momentarily at rest, the spring is compressed by 25.0 cm. What is the speed of the block when the compression of the spring is 15.0 cm?
Thanks.
1 AnswerPhysics1 decade agoPhysics, ball bounces off wall, find force done by wall?
A 72-g handball moving with a speed of 4.5 m/s strikes the wall at an angle of 41° with the normal, and then bounces off with the same speed at the same angle with the normal. It is in contact with the wall for 2.0 ms. What is the average force exerted by the ball on the wall?
Thanks for the help.
1 AnswerPhysics1 decade agoPhysics, pendulum velocity, energy, tension, and max height.?
A pendulum consists of a 1.5-kg bob attached to a light 2.3-m-long string. While hanging at rest with the string vertical, the bob is struck a sharp horizontal blow, giving it a horizontal velocity of 4.5 m/s. At the instant the string makes an angle of 30° with the vertical, calculate the following:
(a) the speed
(b) the gravitational potential energy (relative to its value is at the lowest point)
(c) the tension in the string?
(d) What is the angle of the string with the vertical when the bob reaches its greatest height?
Thanks.
