Hi, Lets see a little bit about me... I currently am attending VCU while School is in season. I've worked a very wide variety of animal related jobs, though only recently have I found my way in to a vet clinic. So if you've got job related questions, or if you want to know why you've had diarrhea ever since that raccoon stuck it's foot in your mouth or how exactly you need to go about dealing with that rabid animal bite you received, fire away. Just don't expect me to answer every question about non-native exotics with non-internet bolstered accuracy. *I wish I knew I could have changed my nickname (laughs) I made it when I was 15 and obsessed with anime, until recently it was a throwaway email.

  • Girlfriend on SSRI's has decreased libido, any experience?

The girl I have currently begun to date has had little to no sex drive since day 1. We have a perfect personality mix, however the one thing holding the relationship back was her lack of physical interest. At first I'd thought it was shyness, lack of experience, or maybe me (I doubted it though, I know I'm not in bad shape).

About two months later though, situations where things like kissing/making out/sex(play even) would be expected (spent several nights alone together, knew her for 3 years previous) and I find out she's been on SSRI's since she was 12, and actually hasn't ever even experienced the faintest sensations of her sex drive.

I'm very tolerant, however I know enough at this point to know to stay out of situations I cannot come out happy from.

So the question: Has anyone dated someone with decreased libido due to SSRI's (antianxiety), who came out with a successful treatment? Also, how do you make this seem important to someone who has never known the difference, especially when parents (who she still lives with) are almost certainly going to be involved.

    Background quick info

    - We've known each other 3 years, dated 2 months

    - This is about to become a long distance relationship (2.5 hours) until next summer

    - She is 21, I am 23

    - She's never dated anyone else

    - She is on SSRI's, and is somewhat repulsed by sexual actions (as a child might be)

    - Her parents are actively pushing her towards a physically active relationship with me it seems.

    - She WANTS to be more interested, but the fact is she can't be truly, this makes it hard for me to enjoy. Somehow it seems morally wrong (I can't tell if she's unwilling if she tries harder to put up an act)

  • Any Veterinary assistants out there?

I'm currently about to begin another semester of college, part time, I was wondering a few things about the job "veterinary assistant" that I will be applying for shortly.

1.) I have extensive experience with all animals but pet animals basically (a few years zookeeping and a few years doing wildlife rehabilitation, often assisting the wildlife veterinarian directly there). That said, I have no experience actually in a veterinary clinic, will this be a serious hindrance?

2.) Are these jobs flexible enough to work around morning/afternoon classes, and do they have nightshifts for the more routine parts of the job, or do you only work when a vet is on duty? (I assume 24 hour emergency clinics have nightshifts, but I will be applying to one that doesn't also).

3.) Any advice about the interview/resume? I would have acquired many skills, but would like to keep focused on the ones important to the job specifically, so what should I emphasize?

Thanks everyone, figured I ought to try asking a question here as well now and then. I'll post it in "pets" as well if there's no answer, I just know many of the top contributors have professional experience.
