cushing's? addison's?
I went to the endocrinologist because I have osteoporosis. I left with her telling me that she thinks I have Addison's and wants me to take hydrocortisone until the test results come back. Now my 24 hour urine test is back and my cortisol is actually high (104.4 with the standard range being 10 - 80). I wasn't taking any hydrocortisone before I did the urine test. Is this high enough to be anything but stress? If so, where do I go from here? This doctor is hard to get hold of. I know she should have done the ACTH stim test to diagnose Addison's, not just put me on steroids, so I would like to know what might be going on here. I have more symptoms of Addison's than Cushing's so am surprised to see that the cortisol level is high. I would appreciate any advice you could give me. Thanks
2 AnswersOther - Diseases10 years agowhat should I have for dinner when everyone has multiple needs?
I'm having friends over for dinner and they are on a high protein diet. I can't eat gluten or dairy. My daughter can't eat multiple things, so I'll probably just work around her, but I'm imagining this awful menu with a plain chicken breast and not much else, though apparently this friend and her husband can eat veggies. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
4 AnswersEntertaining1 decade agoMath question about work?
A cold water faucet can fill a sink in twelve minutes, and a hot water faucet can fill it in 15 minutes. The drain can empty the sink in 25 minutes. If both faucets are on and the drain is open, how long will it take to fill the sink? Thanks.
6 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoDo heart palpitations, bulging veins and a headache mean anything?
I've had heart palpitations for some time, wore a holter monitor for 24hrs and was told it was nothing. Now, for about a week I've had a vague, fuzzy headache that Tylenol and Ibuprofen don't help. Then three days ago I started to get this thing where when my heart starts kind of feeling like it's beating hard and skipping beats, I get a headache in my left temple and the veins in my hands get huge. Then it subsides for a while. Called my hmo two days ago and the nurse said, "Your blood is just circulating close to the surface today." Of course, this is the same hmo that has made a number of mistakes on every single member of my family, so my faith in them is small. I called again yesterday because I felt so weird and was told that there were no appointments to be had and it sounded like I am fine, but I could call in the morning for an appt. I didn't call this morning because I felt really good for the first time in quite a while, but then all of a sudden this afternoon it started up.
